You might want something to jot down notes on.

You'll need to experiment with this one:

Crush some ore and mix it to get new dusts.
Mix that dust with ink.
Empower ink to be used for Etching.
Etch equipment without any planning to get mediocre results!

You want more control you say?

Sketch your etches before you place them on equipment.
Compare your sketches to improve them.
Etch your sketches into equipment(At the cost of some levels).
You'll still need to use the correct ink to etch your enchantments. It's obviously not going to work if it's wrong.
