Illagers have been sitting in the same three outfits since forever, and raids have always felt like the same five minutes on repeat. This mod exists because I got tired of that and decided to drag some of Minecraft Dungeons' best ideas into actual Minecraft — properly, not as a reskin.
New illagers, not just new textures
- Alpinist — a cold-climate raider who fights with a pickaxe. Shows up in snowy raids.
- Geomancer — raises rock pillars in real formations (line, U-shape) to box you in, and drops bomb charges that go off a few seconds later.
- Iceologer — pelts you with falling ice chunks that shatter and slow you down.
- Wind Caller — knocks you around and messes with your gravity mid-fight.
- Illusioner, properly redone this time, with the second head layer and colors that actually match Dungeons.
- Royal Guard — an elite guard with a spiked morningstar mace, and a second, ranged version that fights with a crossbow.
- Redstone Golem — a heavy tank straight out of Dungeons. Summons redstone mines around itself and sweeps its arm to hit everyone nearby, not just whoever it's locked onto.
Every base illager (Vindicator, Pillager, and the new ones above) now has three stages — tougher, better-equipped, and slightly re-colored the higher the stage, instead of just being the same mob forever.
Raids that actually change depending on where you are
Vanilla raids always throw the same Evoker at you no matter what. Not anymore:
- Cold biome → Iceologer shows up instead, and an Alpinist tags along.
- Desert → Geomancer.
- Plains, savanna, taiga → Illusioner.
- Wave 5 and later → a Redstone Golem crashes the party as extra muscle.
- And right as the raid kicks off, the Arch-Illager himself briefly appears — does his signature summon animation, then vanishes — to sell the idea that he's the one sending these raiders after you.
Two real boss fights
The Arch-Illager is a proper end-game fight: he keeps his distance, teleports away if you get close, fires energy bolts, buffs nearby raiders, and calls in reinforcements — vindicators in a circle, pillagers in a line, or a full Redstone Golem, depending on the moment. Kill him and the fight isn't over: he gets pulled into the Heart of Ender, a second boss built around a real Dungeons mechanic — crawling with a damaging trail, mortar barrages, a rotating cross-beam attack, and yes, there's a tiny Arch-Illager visibly trapped inside it, glimpsed through a genuine swirling End Gateway effect.
The small stuff that adds up
All of this uses real exported models and animations, not placeholder boxes — walk cycles, attack swings, cast poses, the works. Every major mob has its own recorded voice lines and sound effects instead of borrowed vanilla grunts. None of it was generated by a mod-maker tool; it's hand-written Java from the ground up, so it should behave and perform like any other hand-built mod.
If you're running Enchant with Mob alongside this, its Enchanter already joins raids on its own — no extra setup needed, they just coexist.
