Description

Enhanced Mob Variants

Enhanced Mob Variants adds multiple visual texture variants to vanilla Minecraft mobs, making the world feel more diverse and alive — without changing gameplay in any way.

This mod is purely cosmetic. All mob behavior, AI, drops, breeding, health, and balance remain 100% vanilla.

Features

  • Multiple visual variants for vanilla mobs
  • No new entities — uses existing vanilla mobs
  • Fully compatible with vanilla mechanics
  • Lightweight and performance-friendly
  • No configuration required
  • Safe for servers and modpacks

Each mob spawns as a random visual variant while remaining functionally identical to its vanilla counterpart.

Affected Mobs

  • Cows (1.7–26.2)
  • Pigs (1.7–26.2)
  • Chickens (1.7–26.2)
  • Cats (1.7.10-26.2)
  • Wolves (1.7.10-26.2)
  • Zombies (1.7–26.2)
  • Skeletons (1.7–26.2)
  • Spiders (1.7–26.2)
  • Sheep (1.7–26.2)
  • Baby Variants (1.7-26.2)

Design Philosophy

This mod is designed to feel like something that could exist in vanilla Minecraft:

  • No gameplay changes
  • No balance changes
  • No world generation changes
  • No extra mechanics to learn

Just more visual variety, seamlessly integrated.

Modpack & Server Friendly

  • Works in existing worlds
  • No dependency mods required
  • Client-safe and server-safe
  • Ideal for Vanilla+, RPG, or immersion-focused modpacks

How It Works

Variants are applied randomly when mobs spawn unless you choose the uniform spawning system in the config which will make mobs that spawn in the same group all use the same texture. This also goes for babies when using the random spawning when you breed two animals the baby can get any texture but when using the uniform spawning it only chooses from one of the parents textures

Supported Versions

  • Minecraft 1.7.10 (Forge)
  • Minecraft 1.12.2 (Forge)
  • Minecraft 1.16.5 (Forge)
  • Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge & Fabric)
  • Minecraft 1.21.1 (Fabric & NeoForge)
  • Minecraft 1.21.11 (Fabric & NeoForge)
  • Minecraft 26.1 (Fabric & NeoForge)
  • Minecraft 26.2 (Fabric & NeoForge)

Each version is built specifically for its Minecraft release to ensure stability and correct vanilla behavior.

Notes

  • This mod does not replace or remove vanilla textures
  • Variant textures are applied dynamically
  • Designed to coexist cleanly with other mods
