Description
(ERI) Endless-Inventory Refined Integration
Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47.x
An integration mod for Endless Inventory and Refined Storage, plus a multi-group hotbar.
This mod is about one idea: Endless Inventory is an inventory, so the rest of the game should be able to treat it like one — the portable grid, the hotbar, and the items you pick up.
Requirements
| Endless Inventory | Required |
| Refined Storage | Optional (the portable grid fallback) |
| JEI | Optional |
| Client and server | Both must have this mod — it corrects part of Endless Inventory's network encoding, and a mismatch between sides will corrupt item NBT |
| QuadHotbar (standalone) | Incompatible — see the note at the bottom |
What it does
1. A portable grid with no disk
A Refined Storage portable grid with no storage disk normally refuses to work. With this mod it opens, backed by your Endless Inventory:
- Taking items out reduces the stock; putting them back raises it.
- Counts past one stack display the way Refined Storage always displays them — Refined Storage carries counts as ints, so nothing is capped at 64.
- With a disk inserted, nothing changes at all.

2. Endless Inventory that behaves like inventory space
- Items you pick up are collected. Items passively gained into slots 9-35 are swept into Endless Inventory. Only passively gained ones: items you move around inside a GUI are left alone, so shift-clicking can never be undone behind your back.
- Nothing drops on the ground for lack of space. Items that fit nowhere go to Endless Inventory instead.
- Nothing drops on death. Endless Inventory's contents live in the world save, so they were never droppable to begin with.
- Hotbar rows are left alone. Rows a hotbar is currently showing are never swept.

3. A multi-group hotbar
Vanilla's nine slots become up to four groups of nine, selectable across slots 9-35. The slots hold real items, so taking, placing, shift-clicking and moving things to and from containers feel exactly like the vanilla hotbar.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
Ctrl+1..9 |
Show a page of the Endless Inventory table (2 groups: the digit is the row; 3 groups: the digit and the next row; 4 groups: bands of three — 1-3, 4-6, 7-9) |
Ctrl+0 |
Swap between your own inventory and your ender chest, all 27 slots of it. Press again to swap back. Can be disabled in the config. |
| Layout key (backslash by default) | Cycle the layout: one row of groups, one row of many groups, two rows, one row per group, and more |
1..9 |
Unchanged: select column N of the current row. Pressing the key of the column you are already on cycles to the next group. |
An ender chest that survives death. While the ender chest is swapped into the hotbar, its items are physically in your inventory — so a death or a logout puts them back in the ender chest first.
The 9×9 panel (works on any container screen; click the corner tab to open it) shows the whole 81-cell table.
- Right-drag to move it.
- Shift-click a cell to take that item off the hotbar.
- Shift-click an item in the Endless Inventory panel to put it on the hotbar.
The panel lists which items the hotbar holds; the amounts are the stacks sitting in the hotbar slots themselves.

Client settings — panel position, hotbar group count, scroll wrapping — are under the mod list's Config button.
Known limitations
- The Endless Inventory screen's own position cannot be moved. Its layout is computed once when it opens and it offers no way to recompute it, so it cannot be shifted as a whole from outside. The 9×9 panel above can be dragged freely and is the way to move things out of the way.
- A hotbar row shows at most one stack of an item, and refills from Endless Inventory as it is drawn down. Refills only happen while no screen is open, so rows never change under your hands.
Credits and licence
- Endless Inventory by Kay_Zhang — the mod this integrates with
- Refined Storage — the portable grid
- QuadHotbar by ArchangelD, LGPL-3.0 — the multi-group hotbar is a fork of it
The fork exists because there is no seam to build on from outside, and because the two mods must
patch the same Minecraft instruction, which means they cannot coexist. Installing both is
refused at startup with an explanation rather than a cryptic error. See THIRD-PARTY.md for what
was changed.
This mod is MIT licensed; the parts derived from QuadHotbar remain LGPL-3.0.
