EnderDragonTweaks

This mod uses Mixins to enhance and modify the Ender Dragon, and adds some new content of its own.

Description

This mod uses Mixins to enhance and modify the Ender Dragon, and adds some new content of its own.

In vanilla the dragon has exactly one attack (dive at you), 200 health, and low damage. Once you have decent gear it is a slow, risk-free war of attrition. This mod gives it three ranged attacks, more health, more damage, and scales all of it with the game difficulty.

Every feature can be toggled or tuned individually in the config file. Turn off whatever you don't want.

WARNING: BACK UP YOUR SAVE BEFORE INSTALLING. This mod changes Ender Dragon behaviour and its drops. It has been tested, but any mod can cause loss - a backup is the cheapest insurance.

NOTE: **this mod does not provide any way to spawn an Ender Dragon.** It only modifies the vanilla dragon that already exists, so you need another mod (or the /summon command) to respawn it. Just respawn it with Et Futurum Requiem's End Crystals.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.7.10 + Forge 10.13.4.1614

**UniMixins** (0.2.1 or newer)
this mod uses Mixins, but the jar does not bundle the Mixin framework. Without UniMixins the game will fail to launch — and you will see NO error message: the game window simply never appears (the crash happens in the launchwrapper phase, before Forge's mod loading, so no "missing dependency" prompt is shown). Please double-check that UniMixins is in your mods/ folder.

Features

End Portal Generation Tweak:

The dragon no longer spawns a return portal when killed outside the End. (This avoids the FPS drop caused by a pile of portals when you kill the dragon in another dimension - e.g. an RFTools dimension that can spawn Ender Dragons.)

Attributes:
Max health: 200 -> 300
Melee (dive) damage: 10 -> 20

Three ranged attack:

1) Single fireball - heavy hitter, slow rate 60 damage on a direct hit, 8 block explosion radius, sets targets on fire for 15 seconds. Travels much faster than a vanilla ghast fireball.

2) Triple burst - area denial 15 damage per fireball, 3 block radius, 3 seconds of fire, fired in a fixed-interval burst of three. The dragon picks between the single shot and the burst by chance.

3) Dragon breath fireball - leaves a damaging zone behind 6 magic damage on a direct hit (bypasses armor), and spawns a DRAGON BREATH CLOUD where it lands. The cloud lasts 30 seconds, deals 2 damage per second to everything inside, and grows from radius 3 to 5 over its first 6 seconds. It only unlocks once the dragon drops below 50% health - i.e. the second half of the fight.

Difficulty scaling:
All damage the dragon deals scales with the game difficulty:
Peaceful 0.0 / Easy 0.8 / Normal 1.0 / Hard 1.3
(The breath cloud's damage per second does NOT scale - it is a flat hazard.)

Loot:

Exp: 12000 (**exactly the vanilla value** - so you will notice no change in XP after a kill. This mod does not alter it, but you can tune it in the config.)

Drops: 1x Ender Dragon Ring + 1x Elytra NOTE: the elytra comes from **Et Futurum Requiem (EFR)**. Without EFR the item does not exist, that drop entry is skipped, and **only the ring drops**.

Ender Dragon Ring (new item):

Not stackable, found in the Tools creative tab. While it sits anywhere in your inventory (or worn in a Baubles slot) it grants a set of potion effects - by default NIGHT VISION I + RESISTANCE II. Effects refresh every second, so they never run out. Which effects and what level is fully configurable (levels 1-5).

HOW TO GET IT: by default it only drops from the Ender Dragon. If you don't want this item, or would rather obtain it some other way, just delete this line under 05_dragonDrops in the config file and save: enderdragontweaks:enderDragonRing 1

Mod integration

Et Futurum Requiem (EFR) :
Everything here is optional — EnderDragonTweaks runs fine on its own, and both the official EFR and its GTNH fork are supported, because the integration only checks whether the item is registered rather than depending on a specific version or branch. With EFR installed, right-clicking a breath cloud with a glass bottle collects it into EFR's "Dragon's Breath" item — the only way to obtain it — and each bottling shaves 3–5 seconds off the cloud's remaining lifetime, which is also the only way to end a cloud early; the dragon also drops an elytra on death. Without EFR, that elytra entry is skipped with a warning in the log, and using a glass bottle on dragon breath simply does nothing.

Baubles-Expanded-GTNH :
Wearing the Ender Dragon Ring in a RING bauble slot frees up an inventory slot while keeping its effects active. Without Baubles-Expanded-GTNH, the ring still works from your inventory.

Compatibility

Hardcore Ender Expansion (HEE) :

Tested and confirmed to work alongside this mod - the two do not affect each other.

Why: HEE uses its own Ender Dragon entity, not vanilla's EntityDragon, and this mod only modifies the vanilla one. With HEE installed the vanilla Ender Dragon does not spawn naturally, so none of this mod's changes apply to HEE's dragon.

**This mod's content and changes will never apply to HEE's dragon either.**

Both mods buff the Ender Dragon, just with different implementations and different results - so there is no point in having them interact.

To experience this mod in an HEE setup you need to spawn a VANILLA Ender Dragon by other means - for example EFR's End Crystal, which can respawn it. In practice: kill HEE's dragon first, then use EFR's End Crystal to spawn the vanilla dragon.
