This mod adds a portal that can be build and used to travel between the End and Nether dimensions. It's intended to be used in conjunction with mods like BetterEnd, but can be used as a standalone mod too. The portal allows you to start out a survival game in the End and set your spawn there without losing access to the game's other dimensions, as well as make portals between the Nether and outer End islands so you don't have to painstakingly jump through gateways and fly around the end just to get to a build you're working on.
This mod does NOT bypass the process of finding the stronghold to gain access to the End for the first time if you're not starting in the End dimension, as end stone is required to make the portal and its igniter requires items like chorus and shulker shells which can only be found in the End.
To make the portal, use a furnace to smelt two blocks of end stone into their new scorched variant. Then, place one above the other, leaving three blocks of air between them. Use the igniter item on the scorched end stone on the bottom of the portal, and the portal will light.
A second portal will not form where you come through, so I'd reccomend you bring a couple scorched end stone with you when first entering the Nether so that you have a way to get back without dying (assuming you're not using mods like Waystones that would provide an alternative route back to the End).
There is a cooldown between portal uses. You can reset this cooldown via commands by setting the value of a player's Portal Decay attribute to zero. Portal Decay is used to prevent players from being softlocked if they place a portal in one dimension at the exact coordinates of the portal in the other, which would cause the player to collide with another portal as soon as they switched dimensions, trapping them in an infinite loop. Preventing the portal from transporting you for a little after you go through solves this softlocking problem.
I am not good at modmaking. I have never done this before. I just threw this together because I needed it for my own world, and decided to publish it in case anyone else needed something like this. Hope it's useful. Since I'm not a professional, though, I don't really have a way for anyone to contact me for bug reporting, so... good luck, I guess?
