What's new

Enchanter's Toolkit 1.1.0

Added

  • Tooltip views: the key H (rebindable, "Change Enchantment View") cycles the enchantment tooltip between full (headers, names and descriptions), names only and compact (one line per group). It works in container screens only, not in the world and not while you type in a text field. The view is remembered in the new client file config/enchanters_toolkit-client.json (viewMode). A file with the old showDescriptions value is migrated.
  • A hint line "Press H to change the enchantment view" at the end of a full tooltip with six or more enchantments, and in the other views when they hide descriptions.
  • Scrollable tooltips: an item tooltip in a container screen that is taller than the window scrolls with the mouse wheel and with Page Up, Page Down, Home and End (rebindable, category "Enchanter's Toolkit"). A strip with an arrow and the word "Scroll" marks the edge where more text follows. Tooltips that fit are not changed. The wheel is used only while a tooltip overflows, so wheel item moving of other mods works otherwise.
  • Enchanted books show a "Fits on: ..." line under each group header (grouped layout): up to three items and "+N more". It is left out in the compact view.
  • Optional EMI support (EMI is suggested, not required): an info page for every enchantment (group, description, number of items it fits) and a recipe category "Fits On" that lists the items an enchanted book fits on.
  • "No effect on this item" mark: an enchantment that the mod can prove to do nothing on the item it is on gets its name in dark grey with the suffix " (no effect on this item)", and its description is dark grey too. In the compact view one suffix ends each line whose enchantments all have no effect. A group header is marked when all its enchantments are, and such groups are listed after the others (grouped layout). Enchanted books are never marked. The switch is descriptions.markNoEffect (default true).
  • The mark appears only where the mod can prove it, so it is never wrong by design. The proof looks at the effect components of the enchantment, the item, loot tables and data packs, the mixins into the enchantment code and the bytecode of all other mods. When something cannot be proven, there is no mark. In a large modpack other mods often touch the enchantment code (mods that read enchantments themselves, mixins into the code that picks the item of an effect, JVM agents), and a loaded accessory mod (Accessories, Trinkets, Curios, Baubles) switches off the marks for effects of equipped items. Few marks or none may appear there. A server without the mod gives no marks on the client.
  • descriptions.markModdedNoEffect (default false): lets enchantments of other mods be marked too. This applies only to enchantments whose effect components are all vanilla ones, because only those can be analysed.
  • New command /etk audit noeffect (permission level 2, also /enchanters_toolkit audit noeffect): writes the verdict and the reason for every enchantment on every item to the folder enchanters_toolkit-audit in the game directory (noeffect.csv, and noeffect-summary.txt with the counts and what blocks marks). It shows why a mark is missing.
  • New language key enchanters_toolkit.tooltip.no_effect for the suffix.
  • "Not meant for this item" hint: an enchantment that is on an item it cannot normally go on (for example Luck of the Sea on a sword, put there by an anvil in creative mode or by a command) gets the dark grey suffix " (not meant for this item)" behind its name. The rule is the one the anvil uses, including the item groups of this mod. The name keeps its colour, the description is unchanged, and the hint says nothing about whether the enchantment does anything. An enchantment with the "no effect" mark gets only that mark. It is not shown on enchanted books, on group headers or in the compact view, and it does not change the order of the groups. The switch is descriptions.markUnsupported (default true); the text is the language key enchanters_toolkit.tooltip.not_meant. Unlike the "no effect" mark it needs no analysis, so it also appears in large modpacks.

Changed

  • Curses are listed last, in their own red "Curses:" block (grouped layout).
  • Enchantment levels above the maximum level of the enchantment are shown in gold (curses excepted).
  • New language keys for the views, the scroll hint, the "Fits on" line, the curses header and the EMI texts, so resource packs can change them.

Fixed

  • In modpacks with a NeoForge compatibility layer such as Sporran, a disabled enchantment (for example Fortune, Looting, Sharpness) kept working: the layer answered the level query before this mod's toggle could. The toggle now wraps the whole level query.
  • In the same modpacks, taking one book from a stack of enchanted books at the grindstone used up the whole stack. The remaining books now stay in the slot; an input slot that another mod refilled is left alone.
  • With itemGroups.enchantingTableUsesGroups set to false, the enchanting table (and loot or mob gear enchanted "with levels") still offered enchantments of the item groups in such modpacks. It now offers exactly vanilla's choice.
  • The data the server sends a joining player for the "no effect" marks grew with the number of mods (about 800 KB in a pack of 540 mods) and could get players disconnected in a larger pack. When marks are blocked anyway, or the data would exceed 512 KiB, the server now sends a small packet and the client marks nothing.
