Colonies
Underground villages that grow from a hamlet up to a Capital (level 5), with 15 jobs and a 3D model for every job. Each people has its own currency (Mycelium Ecus and Ember Marks), earned by trading, daily orders, quests, bounties and raid defence. Reputation, allegiance, ranks, morale, work posts, defences, your own colony, and a shared colony chest that depends on your standing.
Diplomacy and the story
Talk to the Elder to swear allegiance and follow the main story up to a final choice between peace and conquest. Escort caravans, sign truces, arrange political marriages, join festivals, or take the neutral path of the Mediator.
Raids and bosses
Raids that grow with the colony (undead, beasts, illagers, the peoples' armies, the Deep Worm, meteor showers), a choice between waves, named champions and challenges. Break enemy war camps to stop a raid. Altar bosses: Spore Queen, Forge Lord, Meteorite Avatar and the Corrupted Elder (final boss). Mini-bosses: Cavern Guardian, Sporite Colossus, Anvil Guardian, Bear Matriarch.
World
Eight cave biomes (TerraBlender): glowing cavern, giant mushroom forest, spongy marsh, deep furnace, basalt fields, ember delta, crystal chasm and burnt ruins, each with its own resources and creatures. Structures such as raid ruins, a sunken temple, a blacksmith shrine, an open pit, fossil meteorites, guarded rope bridges, magma chambers, nomad relays, an abandoned mine, the worm labyrinth, the meteor temple and the Elder's sanctum. Meteorites, eruptions, tremors, spore blooms, and a calendar of current and past events.
Merchants
Nomads (a hunter who tells rumours and a curiosity seller), the Lamplighter in surface villages, and the Star Wanderer who visits a colony once a week.
Skills and gear
Five skill trees (Miner, Enchanter, Fighter, Farming, Fishing) with vein mining, the people's ultimate ability and prestige. Tier 1 and tier 2 people gear, star iron, shields, Curios jewellery and capes, prospector goggles, grappling hook, drill pickaxe, 15 enchantments, dishes, feasts, brews, potions and antidotes, furniture and decoration.
Guide book
With the optional Patchouli mod, a 187-entry interactive guide (recipes, 3D creature pages) in English and French.
