Embers of Extinction
Embers of Extinction is a Minecraft mod focused on fossils, genetics, and reviving extinct animals.
Fossils
Fossils can be found in fossil patches throughout the world and when excavated can yield either a Sandy Fossil or a Gravelly Fossil. Next they can be washed in a cauldron to reveal which prehistoric period the fossil belongs to, Then to determine the species right click with the fossil in your main-hand and a brush in the off-hand
Genetics
Genetic samples contain randomly generated genetic structures made from different Shapes and Sequences. These structures are investigated and tested to determine which genetic sample is compatible with a fossil.
The genetics of each item are generated per world, so the correct structures aren't simply the same for every world.
Each fossil requires the correct genetic information to be repaired. To obtain Genetic Samples you need to put one of these items,

In a Pulp Processor and convert them into Organic Pulp. Then put the Organic Pulp inside a Genetic Dissolver with a Vial to turn it into a Genetic Sample. To find out the Genetic Makeup of the genetic sample it needs to be put in a Gel Tray (by right clicked the Gel Tray with the Genetic Sample in the off-hand) and then putting it in an Electrophoresis Machine than wait for it to scan the Gel Tray, After that it will show you the Genetic Makeup of whatever item was dissolved in it.
Reviving Extinct Species
Once you have identified the correct genetic material, the fossil can be processed through the revival system.
Take the fossil and place it inside a Specimen Container then test different Genetic Samples on the fossil to find out what Structures & Sequences are needed to reconstruct the fossil (In Creative Mode there is a Creative Genetic Sample to just see all the Fossil's requirements).
After that place the examined fossil inside a Genesis Chamber along with the required genetic sample and either an egg or a piece of meat depending if the species is an egg-laying species or a live-birth species.
If it is an Egg you obtain it can be placed on the ground to grow and hatches faster on hay bales, But if it an Embryo you obtain it can be placed in an Artificial Womb until it grows.
Enjoy.
