High Selenarch Maelis: four phases

The final boss now fights in four clear phases. Her boss bar shows the phase's name and changes colour as she moves through them.

  • The Order's Night (full health): moon orbs, and echoes of the Order's knights.
  • The Eclipse (below 70%): darkness, blinking about the hall, falling stars.
  • The Moonbeam (below 40%): she drags everyone near her inward, then gathers light and fires her beam.
  • The Last Light (below 15%, new): her knights fade away. She fires rings of moon orbs, blinks more often, and her beam now follows its target as it burns.
  • Phase changes: between phases she rises into the air and can't be hurt for three seconds, then a shockwave throws everyone back. A new line of dialogue marks the last phase.
  • The Eclipse Handbook's entry for her is updated to match.

The Order's library and the Star Enchanter

  • The floor caves in. A few seconds after High Selenarch Maelis falls, the Sanctum's floor beside her dais rumbles and collapses into a great round library beneath the hall: walls of books, reading stacks, lecterns and hanging moon lanterns. Everyone close by is given Slow Falling for the drop, and a stair spirals up the library wall back to the hall. Worlds that already finished the road get the library the next time someone who ended it walks into the Sanctum.
  • The Star Enchanter stands at the library's heart. Use it to open a star map of every Eclipse Gate enchantment, grouped into five constellations by the gear they go on. Stars that can't go on your item are dimmed, and dots under each star show the levels your item already has. Place gear (or a book, to make an enchanted book) and Starlight Shards, pick a star and a level, and Inscribe. It costs XP levels and Starlight Shards. It draws glyphs from nearby bookshelves, and you can break it and take it with you.
  • 8 new star enchantments, found only at the Star Enchanter (never from the enchanting table, loot or villagers):
    • Starfall (weapons, I-III): melee hits sometimes call a starbolt down for extra damage.
    • Comet Shot (bows and crossbows, I-III): arrows fly faster and hit harder.
    • Starseeker (pickaxes and other digging tools, I-III): mining with a pickaxe in the Hollow sometimes turns up a Starlight Shard.
    • Moonmend (any gear, I): slowly mends the item at night and in the Hollow. Can't go with Mending.
    • Stargaze (helmets, I-II): hostile creatures nearby glow.
    • Astral Ward (chestplates, I-III): less damage from magic, including moon orbs, beams and harmful potions.
    • Eclipse Veil (leggings, I-II): when a hit leaves you below 30% health, you turn invisible and shielded for a few seconds, and nearby creatures lose you. Once every 90 seconds.
    • Meteor Fall (boots, I-II): land from a height like a meteor, hurting and throwing back creatures around you and halving your fall damage. Can't go with Moonstep.
  • The four existing enchantments (Moonlit Edge, Lunar Leech, Moonstep, Nightsight) are on the star map too, and can still be found as before.
  • New Eclipse Handbook page and JEI info for the Star Enchanter.

Portal sparkle

  • Stepping into the Eclipse Gate in survival now sparkles. During the 4 seconds before you travel, glitter builds up across your screen over a soft violet haze, sparkles swirl around you, and chimes rise in pitch. The glitter fades out after you arrive.

Tougher stone

  • The mod's stone blocks now need an iron pickaxe or better (iron, diamond or netherite). With a weaker pickaxe they break slowly and drop nothing. This covers every stone family: moonstone (including the Moonstone Bricks that frame the portal), lunar stone, deep lunar stone, lunarite bricks, starscar, umbral stone, pale sandstone, rimestone, selenite, peat bricks, the Order's road tiles and waystones, and all their stairs, slabs and walls. Ores, crystals, lanterns, terracotta and concrete are unchanged.

Tardis Mod support

  • With the Tardis Mod installed (optional), the TARDIS can fly to the Moonlit Hollow, both before and after the moon turns.
  • Its doors won't open inside the Sanctum until High Selenarch Maelis has fallen, or inside the Eclipse Citadel or Eclipse Temple outside the eclipse. The TARDIS can't skip the road's sealed gates: land outside and walk in.
  • Bosses and the road's spirits can't be carried through TARDIS doors.

Fixes

  • Bunk beds no longer duplicate. Breaking a bunk bed dropped one bunk bed for each of its four pieces, so you got four back. Now only one drops, whichever piece you break.
  • Pistons can't push a bunk bed. Pushing one piece used to split the bed apart. Bunk beds now hold still, like vanilla beds.
  • Shader packs: the Hollow's galaxy sky shows in full, with no diagonal line. Shader packs such as Complementary ran the sky's textures through their own sun-and-moon handling, which showed the galaxy on only one side of a tilted line. With a shader pack on, the galaxy, bright stars and shooting stars are now drawn in a way shader packs leave alone, so the whole sky shows and fades into the shader's horizon. To use the shader pack's own night sky instead, turn off Visual & Sound Settings → Galaxy Sky with Shaders. Without shaders, nothing changes.
