- Hurricanes on the radar now look like real hurricanes: an empty eye, an intense eyewall and spiral rain bands that get weaker towards the edge.
- Squall lines on the radar: a narrow line of intense storm cores at the front with a wide area of lighter trailing rain behind it.
- Squall lines are much longer and no longer straight: they bow forward in the middle and wave naturally along their length (each one looks different).
- In the sky, squall lines are now a real line of storm towers with varying heights, a wide cloud shield spreading backwards and a low, dark cloud deck over the rain.
- Wind and rain on the ground follow the same curved squall line shape.
