Dwarf's Tyranny

Build a life below the surface. Meet living dwarf colonies, earn their trust, master mythril engineering, crack open gemstone geodes, brew strange powers, and face the dead settlements that the mountain forgot.

Dwarf's Tyranny

An entire dwarven civilization is waiting beneath your feet.

Venture deep underground and discover a hidden world of dwarven settlements, ancient technology, mysterious gemstones, and forgotten kingdoms.

Earn the trust of the dwarves, trade with specialized merchants, complete quests for their King, and help their colonies thrive. Or become their enemy and face the consequences.

Beyond the villages, master Mythril engineering, discover powerful runes, build gas-powered machines, experiment with unusual alchemy, and explore abandoned settlements ruled by the undead.

Dwarf's Tyranny expands Minecraft's underground exploration with new discoveries, useful inventions, unique mechanics, and plenty of things to experiment with throughout your survival adventure.

  • Dwarf Villager: Ordinary villagers who can request gemstones in exchange for rewards and reputation.
  • Dwarf Guard: Protects the colony and reacts to enemies and hostile players.
  • Dwarf Blacksmith: Trades tools, equipment, materials, and engineering supplies.
  • Dwarf Innkeeper: Specializes in Deepbrew ingredients and related materials.
  • Dwarf Jeweler: Trades gemstones and valuable resources.
  • Dwarf King: Rules the colony and offers quests to players.

The Colony Drum

Every dwarf village has a Colony Drum at its center.

Interacting with it gathers nearby dwarves and establishes their village center.

Players can also place another Colony Drum elsewhere, allowing dwarves to establish a new center and making it possible to organize or relocate a colony.

Your relationship with the dwarves matters.

Dwarf's Tyranny introduces a reputation system that changes how dwarves treat you and also acts as the currency used in their shops.

Reputation

Reputation ranges from -5 to +5.

Helping dwarves improves your reputation, while attacking them damages it.

Attacking a Dwarf King immediately reduces your reputation to -5.

Recovery is still possible. After a full Minecraft day of actual play time, reputation can recover from -5 to -4.

Dwarven Shops

Unlike ordinary Minecraft villagers, dwarven merchants use reputation points instead of emeralds.

Purchasing items consumes reputation, creating a choice between maintaining your standing with the colony and spending it on valuable resources.

Gemstone Requests

Dwarf Villagers can request specific gemstones.

A small visual indicator above their heads displays the gemstone they want.

Hold the requested gem and interact with the dwarf to complete the request and receive loot, experience, and reputation.

  • Uncommon gemstone: +1 reputation.
  • Rare gemstone: +2 reputation.
  • Epic gemstone: +3 reputation.

King's Quests

Dwarf Kings offer generated missions through a dedicated quest interface.

Possible objectives include:

  • Defeating specific creatures.
  • Collecting requested items.
  • Breaking particular blocks.
  • Discovering specific biomes.

Quests have different difficulty levels and rewards. Progress is tracked automatically, and only one quest can be active at a time.

Rewards can include reputation, equipment, valuable resources, and special items.

Abandoned Villages & Skeleton Dwarves

Not every dwarven settlement survived.

Deep underground, players can discover abandoned dwarf villages, ruined versions of the living colonies.

Their former inhabitants have been replaced by skeletal dwarves with different combat abilities.

Undead Inhabitants

  • Skeleton Dwarf Villager: A basic hostile melee enemy.
  • Skeleton Dwarf Guard: A tougher fighter capable of coordinating with other skeletal guards.
  • Skeleton Dwarf Blacksmith: Attacks from a distance by throwing hammers.
  • Skeleton Dwarf Innkeeper: Uses dangerous explosive barrels.
  • Skeleton Dwarf Jeweler: Avoids players rather than attacking and can drop gemstones.

Most skeletal dwarves are hostile toward players and living dwarves alike.

The Skeleton Dwarf King

The most dangerous inhabitant of these forgotten settlements is their undead King.

He possesses several special combat abilities:

  • Powerful melee attacks.
  • A ground-smashing attack that creates a shockwave.
  • The ability to summon skeletal guards as reinforcements.
  • Increased combat power after summoning minions.

The Broken Crown

The Skeleton Dwarf King has a chance to drop his Broken Crown.

Players who obtain it can use its power to summon skeletal minions of their own.

Abandoned villages also provide opportunities to recover Rusty Dwarf Armor and other ancient loot.

Mythril & Dwarven Equipment

Mythril is one of the most important materials in dwarven engineering.

Finding Mythril

Mythril Ore generates underground and behaves like an ordinary Minecraft ore.

Mine it to obtain Raw Mythril, then smelt the material into Mythril Ingots.

Mythril is used to craft equipment, machinery, storage blocks, and various inventions.

Mythril Tools

Mythril tools are better than Diamond but weaker than Netherite.

The set includes a Sword, Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel, and Hoe.

They introduce two special mechanics:

  • Precision Mining: When mining a block, aiming directly at its visible fissure allows the player to break it faster.
  • Corrosion: Below 50% durability, Mythril tools become visibly corroded and less effective.

Corrosion does not create a separate item variant. The same tool changes appearance and performance depending on its durability.

Mythril Armor

Mythril Armor is also stronger than Diamond but weaker than Netherite.

Just like Mythril tools, it becomes visibly corroded and weaker below 50% durability.

Rusty Dwarf Armor

An old, damaged version of dwarven armor.

It can be obtained from Skeleton Dwarf Guards and found in abandoned dwarf villages.

Dwarf Armor

The traditional dwarven armor set.

It can be obtained through dwarf quests or found in living dwarf villages.

Dwarf Netherite Armor

An upgraded version of Dwarf Armor.

Use a Smithing Table with Dwarf Armor, Netherite, and the appropriate Smithing Template to craft it.

Hidden within underground stone are mysterious Geodes containing colorful and valuable gemstones.

Finding Geodes

Geodes are discovered inside Suspicious Stone.

The Geode Sensor detects nearby Suspicious Stone within a limited radius, helping players locate hidden Geodes.

Opening Geodes

Geodes use an interactive cracking mechanic rather than opening instantly.

  1. Mine Suspicious Stone to obtain a Geode.
  2. Place the Geode in the world.
  3. Find the visible fissure on its surface.
  4. Hit the fissure using a pickaxe.
  5. Follow the changing fissures and complete the cracking sequence to reveal the gemstone.

Gemstone Rarity

  • Uncommon: 60% chance.
  • Rare: 30% chance.
  • Epic: 10% chance.

Uncommon Gemstones: Nyrals

Ten Nyral variants can be found:

Pink, Green, Purple, Black, Red, Orange, Blue, White, Yellow, and Cyan Nyral.

Nyrals can be used for gemstone requests, rune engraving, and crafting matching colored Nyral Lanterns.

Rare Gemstones

Eldraz, Kataraz, Toniraz, Cacaillouxe, Retraz, Paraz, Coraz, and Ferraz.

Rare gems provide greater reputation rewards and can be used for rune engraving.

Epic Gemstones

Lumite, Gravialite, Nitrolite, Teminite, and Golden Cacaillouxe.

The first four have matching decorative storage blocks.

There are 23 different gemstones to discover in total.

Runes & the Engraving Table

Runes are special upgrades that grant machines and companions new abilities.

Engraving Table

To create a rune, insert:

  • 1 Blank Rune
  • 4 gemstones of any type

After the engraving process, the table produces a random functional rune.

The gemstone combination does not determine which rune will be created.

Rune Durability

Runes have limited durability.

They wear down as their abilities are used. Once depleted, they become Broken Runes.

The Nine Functional Runes

Golem Mole Runes

  • Mine Rune: Makes the Golem Mole mine nearby ores.
  • Collect Rune: Makes it collect dropped items.
  • Combat Rune: Makes it defend its owner.

Ancient Chest Runes

  • Magnetic Rune: Attracts dropped items into the chest.
  • Sorting Rune: Automatically organizes stored items.
  • Forging Rune: Gradually repairs damaged equipment.

Mythril Furnace Runes

  • Fuel Rune: Reduces gas consumption.
  • Blast Rune: Increases processing speed.
  • Smoker Rune: Enables smoker recipes.

Golem Mole & Ancient Chest

Golem Mole

The Golem Mole is a mechanical companion capable of helping players mine, gather resources, or fight enemies.

Build one using Mythril Blocks and a carved pumpkin, following a golem-style structure.

The first player to interact with it becomes its owner.

It has 12 inventory slots and one dedicated rune slot.

The Golem Mole follows its owner and can teleport back when it gets too far away.

Mining Mode

Equip a Mine Rune to make the Golem Mole search for and mine nearby ores.

It can mine ores requiring up to Diamond-level harvesting and stores the resulting resources.

Collection Mode

Equip a Collect Rune to make it collect nearby dropped items.

Combat Mode

Equip a Combat Rune to make it protect its owner and attack enemies.

Ancient Chest

The Ancient Chest works like a normal chest but has an additional rune slot.

Its three upgrades are:

  • Magnetic Rune: Pulls nearby dropped items into the chest without attracting them through walls.
  • Sorting Rune: Automatically organizes the chest's contents.
  • Forging Rune: Slowly repairs damaged equipment stored inside.

A comparator can also read how full the chest is.

Gas Engineering & Machines

Dwarf's Tyranny introduces a custom gas system used to power machines, weapons, and mechanical inventions.

Build networks to generate, transport, store, and consume gas.

Air Extractor

Passively generates gas from the surrounding air.

Its animated fan reflects its activity, and it requires open space at its front and rear to operate correctly.

Mythril Pipes

Transport gas between connected machines and storage tanks.

Machines may also connect directly to each other without requiring pipes.

Mythril Tank

Stores large quantities of gas for later use.

Multiple tanks can be stacked vertically to increase their shared storage capacity.

Stored gas is preserved when a tank is broken, and a comparator can measure how full it is.

Portable Gas Tank

Use an Empty Tank on a filled Mythril Tank to obtain a portable Gas Tank.

Portable tanks supply gas to compatible weapons and the Remote-Controlled Drill.

Mythril Furnace

A special furnace powered by gas rather than conventional fuel.

It normally processes blast-furnace recipes, but its functionality can be modified with runes:

  • Fuel Rune: Reduces gas consumption by 50%.
  • Blast Rune: Doubles processing speed while increasing gas consumption.
  • Smoker Rune: Allows the furnace to process smoker recipes.

Gas Propulsor

When activated by redstone, the Gas Propulsor releases a powerful directional air jet.

It can push entities and minecarts, making it useful for movement systems and rail transportation.

Gas-Powered Weapons

Gas is not only useful for machinery. It also powers four unique weapons, each with its own mechanics.

Flamethrower

A weapon with two firing modes:

  • Right-click: Continuously projects fire.
  • Sneak + right-click: Releases a persistent cloud of combustible gas.

The gas cloud can be ignited to trigger a chain reaction that damages nearby enemies and sets them on fire.

The flamethrower can also destroy cobwebs, leaves, grass, flowers, vines, and other vegetation.

LightningThrower

Hold use to charge an electrical attack, then release to fire.

It can interact with deployed Nail Gun nails, allowing players to create electrical traps.

Nail Gun

Fires nails without requiring conventional ammunition.

Up to five nails can remain deployed simultaneously.

They can be recalled toward the player, passing through walls and potentially damaging enemies on their way back.

Deployed nails can also be electrified using the LightningThrower.

Grappler Gun

A grappling weapon supporting up to three simultaneous anchors.

Attach grappling beams to solid surfaces within 32 blocks.

With several anchors active, the player is pulled toward their combined center.

Sneak to release all anchors.

Gas is consumed when creating new anchors.

Remote-Controlled Drill

The Remote-Controlled Drill is a small gas-powered mining vehicle operated directly by the player.

Install a Gas Tank, deploy the vehicle, and interact with it to take remote control.

Your character stays behind while you control the drill.

Features

  • Remote-controlled movement.
  • Climbing and gripping surfaces.
  • Mining blocks directly in front of the drill.
  • Damaging creatures in its path.
  • Collecting and storing mined items.
  • Consuming gas while operating.
  • A limited remote-control range.

The drill combines exploration, mining, and direct vehicle control in a single machine.

Deepbrew is a custom brewing system featuring 24 unusual effects.

Rather than simply granting stronger versions of vanilla potion effects, Deepbrew can completely change the way a player moves, fights, explores, or interacts with the world.

How to Brew

  1. Fill an Infusion Cauldron with a bucket of water.
  2. Add a valid brewing ingredient.
  3. Wait one full Minecraft day for fermentation.
  4. Collect up to three bottles of the finished Deepbrew.

The Dwarf Innkeeper sells every valid Deepbrew ingredient.

The 24 Deepbrew Effects

  • Dormant Fury | Mossthril: Triggers a burst of offensive and defensive effects when health falls below 30%.
  • Elastic Body | Slime Ball: Prevents fall damage and allows the player to bounce on landing.
  • Molten Blood | Magma Cream: Sets melee attackers on fire. Water ends the effect.
  • Resonance | Echo Shard: Periodically emits visual pulses revealing nearby ores.
  • Spectral Step | Chorus Fruit: Automatically dodges incoming projectiles by teleporting the player.
  • Wall Crawler | Spider Eye: Allows climbing walls and moving along ceilings.
  • Stone Stomach | Stone: Lets the player eat stone for a small amount of food at the cost of health.
  • Reflex Shell | Armadillo Scute: Transforms the player into an armadillo that can roll or curl up defensively.
  • Galvanic Charge | Copper Ingot: Builds electrical charge through movement and releases chained electricity through melee attacks.
  • Living Anchor | Heavy Core: Prevents knockback, increases falling speed, and turns long falls into damaging shockwaves.
  • Last Breath | Ghast Tear: Prevents one fatal hit and provides a brief opportunity to escape.
  • Muffled Steps | Wool: Suppresses movement vibrations to avoid vibration-sensitive blocks and creatures.
  • Wind Step | Breeze Rod: Grants a mid-air double jump.
  • Squid Escape | Ink Sac: Releases ink and propels the player away when attacked underwater.
  • Experience Boost | Lapis Lazuli: Increases positive experience gains by 50%.
  • Volcanic Steps | Obsidian: Converts nearby exposed lava into obsidian.
  • Spiny Panic | Pufferfish: Produces defensive spines and knocks nearby enemies away when attacked.
  • Guiding Glow | Glow Berries: Leaves a glowing particle trail behind the player.
  • Nesting Instinct | Egg: Periodically has a chance to produce an egg.
  • Caffeinated Frenzy | Cocoa Beans: Temporarily boosts mining speed, followed by slowness and nausea.
  • Suspicious | Suspicious Stew: Produces an unpredictable effect.
  • Fish Soul | Tropical Fish: Transforms the player into a fish that can breathe underwater but not on land.
  • Personal Gravity | Shulker Shell: Allows upward drifting while holding sneak in mid-air.
  • Phantom Gliding | Phantom Membrane: Allows gliding and steering through the air without an Elytra.

Redstone & Mechanical Inventions

Beyond Mythril and gas technology, Dwarf's Tyranny adds several mechanical blocks with unique functions.

Bridger

A redstone-powered block that projects a temporary bridge or wall of light.

It can extend up to 16 blocks, provided a valid solid anchor block exists at the far end.

Remove the redstone signal and the projection disappears.

Magnetic Rail

A vertical rail system that transports minecarts using a moving platform.

Stack Magnetic Rails vertically to create a minecart lift.

The system can connect to conventional rails at its entrance and exit.

Without entrance or exit rails, it becomes a standalone minecart elevator that can be activated using redstone or by entering the minecart.

Separator

A machine that allows players to decraft eligible items and recover their crafting ingredients.

Insert the item and start the machine.

A timing mini-game begins: interact in rhythm with the green light to maintain acceleration and complete the separation process.

Successfully completing the sequence returns the recovered ingredients.

Powerer

A redstone component that behaves like an hourglass.

Once activated, it produces a redstone signal whose strength gradually decreases as the remaining time runs out.

Training Mannequin

A reusable target for testing damage.

Use it to compare the effectiveness of different weapons, effects, and combat setups.

Dwarven Pots

Decorative containers that also provide compact storage.

  • Small Pot: One stack of one item type.
  • Pot: One stack each of two item types.
  • Large Pot: One stack each of three item types.

Pots can also output comparator signals based on their contents.

Mosstone & Decorations

Mosstone

A special stone naturally found in dwarf villages.

Moss gradually grows on Mosstone and can be harvested using shears to obtain Mossthril.

Mossthril is used for Deepbrew and can be crafted into Mossthril Bales and Mossthril Carpet.

Nyral Lanterns

Ten colored lantern variants crafted using uncommon Nyral gemstones.

Each Nyral color has a matching lantern.

Gemstone Blocks

Several epic gemstones can be crafted into matching decorative storage blocks:

  • Lumite Block
  • Gravialite Block
  • Nitrolite Block
  • Teminite Block

Mythril Building Materials

Mythril Ingots, Nuggets, Blocks of Raw Mythril, and Mythril Blocks are part of the mod's crafting and building progression.

Mythril Blocks are also used to construct the Golem Mole.

Pet Rocks

Even dwarves need a little company.

Pet Rocks are customizable decorative companions obtained as rewards from dwarf quests.

Paint Your Own Face

Place a Pet Rock and interact with it using an empty hand to open its custom painting interface.

Draw a unique face using the available colors.

Customization

  • Renaming: Give your Pet Rock a custom name using an anvil.
  • Waxing: Apply Honeycomb to prevent further edits.
  • Golden Transformation: Use a Golden Cacaillouxe to turn it into a Gold Pet Rock.

The golden transformation preserves the Pet Rock's name and painted face.
