Dungeon Difficulty Addition is an expansion and compatibility mod for Dungeon Difficulty, focused on fixed equipment progression and better modded equipment support.
Requires Dungeon Difficulty: Dungeon Difficulty Page
⭐ Fixed Item Levels

Assign any item a fixed Level through fixed_item_levels.json.
- Supports item IDs and Java regex.
- Works with weapons, armor, accessories, boss drops, crafted items, smithing.
- Unlisted items remain controlled by Dungeon Difficulty normally.
Scalable Items will start at minimum level of 1 rather than no level, this include the crafted item. (This function can be turned off via config)
🔨 Crafting & Recipe Viewers
Fixed levels are automatically applied to crafting and configured smithing outputs.
Crafting interfaces show the correct level and scaled stats before crafting, with optional support for:
- JEI
- EMI
- Modded recipe categories
The JEI/EMI main item sidebar is left untouched.
💎 RPG Series Compatibility
Extends Dungeon Difficulty scaling to additional RPG Series equipment not currently supported by Dungeon Difficulty.
Jewelry

- Scales accessory attributes with item level.
- Supports both generated and fixed-level Jewelry.
- Preserves existing accessory modifiers.
Relics

- Scales Relic attributes and their actual active/proc effects.
- Updates Relic tooltips to show the real scaled values.
Both integrations are optional.
Encounter Scaling — New in v2.0.0
Version 2.0.0 introduces a new Encounter Scaling system designed to make dungeon level and equipment progression matter more during combat.
When fighting enemies above your current gear level, being undergeared now comes with additional penalties:
- Take increased damage when your defensive gear is below the encounter level.
- Deal reduced damage when your weapon is below the encounter level.
- The larger the level difference, the stronger the penalty.
- Supports melee, ranged, and spell-based combat.
This system does not prevent players from entering or attempting higher-level content. Instead, it makes challenging higher-level encounters while undergeared significantly more dangerous, while properly equipped players fight without these penalties.
Encounter Scaling is fully configurable and disabled by default, allowing modpack creators to adjust it to fit their own progression and difficulty.
