What's new

1.1.5

The space update proper. Seven worlds you can actually go to, planets that can be destroyed and restored, gravity that is real rather than cosmetic, and your voice as a way to charge ki.

Requires DragonMineZ 2.1.3+ on Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge).

Added

  • Five new planets to fly to. Planet Vegeta, Vampa, Yardrat, Cereal and Hell Planet, each with its own terrain, sky colour and gravity. Hell Planet is a 20g volcanic world; Vegeta is a real 10g and will fight you for every jump (#170, #233, #240).
  • Otherworld Space, with Heaven and the Sacred World reachable by pod. Arriving on Heaven drops you in from above rather than inside the ground, and you can leave again (#237, #271, #272).
  • Namek and Vegeta have real surface art instead of placeholder ground, and Cereal has its own banded mesa under a dark orange sky (#205, #170, #254).
  • Vampa has its own sand, a yellow-green block rather than a vanilla one that was never the right colour. Vanilla has no yellow-green sand of any kind, so this is a new block rather than a retexture, and it behaves like sand in every other respect (#240).
  • Cereal has its own red sand in place of a bare stone surface (#254).
  • Planets can be finite. Vegeta is a bounded body with void around it. Fly, fall or dig more than 256 blocks past any of its six faces and you are lifted into its orbit, instead of stopping at an invisible wall. Terrain generates on all six sides, so it reads as a body from space rather than a slab with a sheared edge (#204).
  • Planets can be destroyed, and wished back. A strike travels and can be intercepted, planets declare their own health and regeneration rate, and a destroyed planet is gated rather than deleted so nothing in your world is lost. One universal destruction animation, wreckage visible in the sky, and a boss bar while a planet is dying (#207, #214, #222).
  • Gravity is physical, not just a number on a screen. A planet's declared gravity is now what your body actually experiences and what DragonMineZ trains you against, so Vegeta at 10g really is ten times heavier. Gravity Mastery lightens that physics as you adapt, rather than only moving a stat (#142, #110).
  • Gravity rotates to the face of the planet you are standing on. Walk over the edge of a bounded planet and you carry on walking down the side, and it applies to every entity rather than only to players. Requires the Gravity Control mod and is off by default: set faceGravity under [gravity] in serverconfig/dmzplus-space-server.toml to turn it on. Ki flight is not yet oriented for rotated gravity, so flying at rotated angles still looks wrong (#249).
  • Scream to charge your ki, and hold a note to transform. Simple Voice Chat becomes an input: either the key or your voice fills the bar, your choice, with a master switch, a per-player opt-out and one duration for everyone (#345, #356, #357, #368).
  • Your pod is life support. Sitting in a Saiyan pod keeps you alive in vacuum and through temperature that would otherwise kill you (#175).
  • A breath clock on vanilla's air bubble bar, so vacuum reads the way drowning does rather than needing a new widget (#196).
  • Cold and heat now look like something. Frost and fire visuals instead of damage arriving from nowhere (#220).
  • The pod tells you what is outside and what it can survive, as one row per hazard, updated every frame (#260).
  • Deep space loops vertically, so the climb never ends, and your pod wraps with you rather than being left behind (#186).
  • The planet capture boundary is visible in deep space, as a green curtain whose colour you can configure (#210).
  • Hell, Yardrat, Cereal, Vampa and five suns are visible from deep space (#273).
  • Asteroids vary in material and size, and some can be built on (#199).
  • Cerealian Dragon Balls, and Toronbo (#243).
  • Heaven has fewer, larger lakes joined by rivers that cross the world as stepped reaches (#264).
  • Per-planet world borders, unchained from the Overworld's (#185, #193).
  • A space pod can be placed in mid-air, and an empty one stays where you left it instead of sinking (#355).
  • Datapacks can declare a planet heavier than 10g (#238), add custom planets to the pod menu (#212), and turn bounded planets back into ordinary infinite worlds with geography.boundedPlanets = false (#267).
  • Gravity Mastery is on out of the box in new configs. An existing config keeps whatever you set (#367).

Changed

  • Physical gravity caps at 1.0. Anything heavier belongs to DragonMineZ's own training multiplier rather than to your movement, so a 20g planet trains you at 20g without making you unplayable (#223).
  • Vegeta no longer has a world border. The bound above replaces it (#204).
  • Vegeta has been reshaped, and existing worlds will show a seam. The planet now sits higher and has an underside, so chunks you had already explored keep the old shape while newly generated ones do not match, leaving a visible join at the edge of your explored area. To get a clean planet, delete the dimensions/dmzplus/vegeta folder inside your save before loading it. Leaving it alone is safe: nothing is lost or corrupted and the join is only cosmetic (#204).
  • Your HUD and hyperdrive settings are now yours. Six settings moved out of the per-world server config and into config/dmzplus-client.toml, under [space.hud] and [space.hyperdrive]. They were only ever read by your own game, but because they lived in the server config the server pushed its values to you on join, so the server decided whether your pod speed readout appeared, which corner it sat in, and how much the field of view moved at high speed. If the hyperdrive field-of-view effect makes you motion sick, [space.hyperdrive] enabled = false in config/dmzplus-client.toml now works. It did not before (#202).
  • Server admins: the old [hud] and [hyperdrive] sections stay in your world's serverconfig/dmzplus-space-server.toml. They are ignored and can be deleted. Forge does not remove them for you, so they will keep looking like live settings until you do. If you had tuned hyperdrive.strength for your world, that value is gone, it is a per-player setting now (#202).
  • Any player can now check their own gravity mastery. /dmzplus gravitymastery reports your banked and pending progress, your peak G this run and your current danger band, and no longer needs operator permission. It only ever reports on whoever ran it. Setting a value with /dmzplus gravitymastery set stays operator-only (#320).
  • The statistics screen now shows the gravity you are actually under, rather than DragonMineZ's net value (#142, #149, #223).
  • Sacred Kai World is no longer reachable directly from Otherworld Space (#271).
  • Asteroid fields are thinner and their size range is tighter (#199).
  • Deep space generates 16 sections per chunk instead of 64, which is a large reduction in the work a server does to keep empty space loaded (#248).
  • Gravity Control is an optional dependency rather than a hard one, so the pack runs without it (#236, #313).
  • The mod list and the jar manifest now report the build you are actually running, so a development jar can never be mistaken for a release (#293).

Fixed

  • A fast space pod no longer vanishes and strands its pilot. Above roughly 150 blocks per second the pod outran the chunks the server was still ticking, and an unticked pod stops putting its rider back in the seat. Your position on the server froze while the pod flew on, and once the gap passed about 190 blocks the server deleted the pod from your screen while still believing you were aboard. The pod disappeared, movement stopped, and only a relog recovered it (#370).
  • Eating no longer regenerates you out of gravity strain (#326).
  • Screaming no longer dumps your power release (#358), and a server without Simple Voice Chat no longer errors on every voice packet (#360).
  • Dying on a bounded planet no longer crashes the server (#265).
  • Falling off the edge of a bounded planet no longer kills you. Leaving one in any direction is a transition to orbit rather than a death in the void (#204).
  • Turning bounded planets off no longer strands you alive in the void forever. With geography.boundedPlanets = false the escape to orbit is switched off, but void damage was still being suppressed, so falling past the bottom of the world left you falling permanently: not dead, not rescued, and with no way out without an operator teleporting you (#284).
  • The Descend button works after every orbit arrival, not just the first. Finishing a descent never told the server it had ended, so the pod stayed marked as manoeuvring and the button went quietly dead. Relogging cleared it (#283).
  • Launch and Descend can no longer deadlock the pod by both running at once (#187).
  • Gravity Mastery no longer desyncs your movement on a dedicated server. The client read the feature's on/off switch from a config that servers never send to clients, so on any server that had enabled it, the server applied mastery to your movement while your own game did not, and you fought a rubber-banding mismatch the whole time. It looked correct in single player, which is why it went unnoticed (#281).
  • Planet gravity now reaches the client, so your movement matches the server's idea of it (#242).
  • Dragon balls can no longer be walked out of their world through a nether portal. A ball dropped into a portal changed dimension on the first tick it touched it, and the tracker only ever looks in the ball set's home dimension, so it went permanently invisible to radar and to every other player. It could not be found again by any in-game means (#282).
  • A ball set that is not seven balls can now actually summon, and Toronbo no longer floats above the ground (#243).
  • A client and server on mismatched versions now refuse the connection instead of half-working. The network protocol version had been frozen through several changes to the wire format, so an out-of-date client connected happily and then failed to receive the space map, which reads as planets simply not existing. Connections are refused up front, and builds from different commits of the same release can connect again (#285, #334).
  • Old worlds load again after the deep space dimension was renamed. Stale dimension ids and the per-world config are both migrated on load, so orbit exits do not stay dead (#194, #174).
  • Hyperdrive visuals work on dedicated servers. The field-of-view widening and the starfield streaking both depend on knowing you are in deep space, and that classification was only ever built on the server side, so on a real server it was never populated and the effects never ran. They worked in single player by accident (#235).
  • Deep space capture now picks the nearest planet, deterministically, and each deep space only shows its own planets and stars (#131, #269).
  • Being unable to leave a planet now tells you why. If a destination dimension is missing or failed to load, ascending simply did nothing, with no message, while the server log took the same warning twice a second for the rest of the session (#287).
  • /dmzplus space locate no longer reports distances to places you cannot reach. It measured from your raw coordinates without checking which deep space you were in, or whether you were in one at all, so it would confidently report a target as 0 blocks away while you stood on a different planet entirely (#286).
  • Bounded planets no longer show bare untextured patches on their vertical faces, and their undersides and sides are skinned. Hell Planet and Vampa were both affected, and because terrain is written once and kept, the patches were permanent in any area you had already explored. A world generated before this update keeps them; fresh terrain is clean (#300, #261).
  • Planets stop generating ground outside their own bounds, and Vampa's spires no longer strand as pillars past its rim (#277, #262).
  • Yardrat and Cereal no longer shed their surface into the void (#170).
  • Heaven's pools are whole, walled and sit in the ground, rather than standing open-sided with no blocks containing them, and its lakes no longer generate in pairs (#263, #264).
  • Landing on Heaven no longer puts you inside the ground, and Otherworld Space gravity actually applies instead of only reading 1G (#270, #271).
  • A planet can no longer be left permanently at zero integrity. Disabling planet destruction while a qualifying attack was already in flight banked the damage instead of clearing it, leaving the planet showing a red 0% bar forever and one hit from destruction, with no way to heal it (#306).
  • Planet strikes now land. They never bound to a target, so nothing ever arrived, and a doomed planet could quietly come back to life (#214, #207).
  • A hard server crash no longer leaves you rendered on fire. If the server was killed while you were standing somewhere hot, you came back still burning and stayed that way until you died. The effect was visual only and never dealt damage (#308).
  • Hazard visuals no longer put out another mod's fire (#337).
  • A config file wiped back to defaults now says so in the log. Forge can leave a config file empty if its own file watcher catches it mid-write, and every setting is then silently replaced with its default. It has happened here: a tuned value came back at stock with nothing logged and nothing shown in game, so the server ran on settings nobody chose. The write itself belongs to Forge and is not something this mod can change, but you are now told when it happens, and pointed at the backup file that still holds your old values. Two cases stay undetectable and are listed in the log message rather than left to look like coverage: a wipe that happens across a restart, and one where the file is left partly written rather than empty (#327).
  • World borders no longer chain to the Overworld's for DragonMineZ's own dimensions either (#185).
  • The pod menu no longer breaks datapack reloads (#212).
  • Dragon Ball and HFIL chat messages are translatable, including the next-login logout notice (#316, #329).
  • No longer collides with Ad Astra's planet_renderers folder (#144).

Security

  • /dmzplus space restore is now operator-only. It had no permission requirement at all, so any player on a stock client could undo a planet destruction, and the command's own tab-completion listed the destroyed planets to pick from. Its sibling destroy was gated correctly the whole time. The Dragon Ball restore wish is unaffected: it was already running as the server rather than as the player who made the wish (#280).

1.1.4b

A hotfix for 1.1.4. If you are running 1.1.4, you must update: 1.1.4 does not start.

Fixes

  • 1.1.4 crashed during startup and never reached the main menu. Launch, Descend and Travel are all added to DragonMineZ's pod screen by a single patch, and on 1.1.4 that patch could not attach on a normal install. DragonMineZ loads the pod screen while the game is still starting, so the failure aborted mod loading outright rather than waiting for anyone to open the screen. It was only ever correct inside a development environment, which is why it got through testing. All three buttons are back and working.
  • Note for anyone who hit it: the crash report blamed DragonMineZ, not DragonMineZ Plus, because the screen being patched belongs to DragonMineZ. The fault was ours. Please do not report that crash to the DragonMineZ team.

Nothing else has changed. See 1.1.4 for the space travel update itself: pod launch and descend controls, deep space speed windup and hyperdrive, weightlessness, the Gravity Mastery TP multiplier, and the flight aura.

Server admins coming from 1.1.3b or earlier: the deep space dimension was renamed in 1.1.4 from dmzplus:universe_7 to dmzplus:universe_7_deep_space. On an existing world you must edit serverconfig/dmzplus-space-server.toml and update deepSpaceDimension to the new id before starting up. If you do not, orbit to deep space travel is refused and the only sign is one error line in the log at startup.

Requires DragonMineZ 2.1.3+ on Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge).
