What's new

1.1.2 — The Nether is now a death dimension (HFIL)

Snake Way finally has consequences. Walk off the edge and you don't land on an empty cloud floor any more — you fall out of the Otherworld entirely and wake up in the Nether, as HFIL.

  • Fall off Snake Way, land in Hell. Dropping to the bottom of the Otherworld scatters you to a random safe spot in the Nether, thousands of blocks from the last one. No two falls land in the same place, so nobody can camp a portal at the landing zone.
  • The dead stay dead. Normally DragonMineZ pulls a dead player back to the Otherworld within half a second. In Hell it doesn't — you serve your time. And because the Otherworld's dead-player comforts (no hunger, no form drain, free melee stamina) are tied to that dimension specifically, in Hell you starve, burn form duration and pay full stamina like anyone else.
  • You can't die your way out. Taking a lava bath in Hell respawns you in Hell, at a fresh spot. Since the trip also puts King Yemma and Fortuneteller Baba out of reach, being down there genuinely delays your revival.
  • The way out is any nether portal. Dead players climb back to King Yemma's checkpoint. Living players surface in the Overworld exactly as normal.
  • The living can fall too. Taking the Bulma space pod to King Kai's planet is a real trip now — the walk back along Snake Way is no longer risk-free.

Configurable in dmzplus-common.toml under [hell]: enabled (master toggle), fallY, scatterRadius. Turning it off drains cleanly — nobody is left stranded mid-feature.

Servers running keepInventory = false: dying in Hell drops your items at the corpse, and the respawn scatters you far away, so those drops are effectively unrecoverable. Consider that before enabling this on a hardcore-inventory server.

Requires DragonMineZ 2.1.3+ on Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge).
