What's new

[1.2.0] β€” Performance, Multiplayer Safety, In-Game Wiki

A full review pass focused on server performance and multiplayer correctness, plus this mod's first in-game wiki content.

πŸ“– Added

  • In-game wiki articles: with DMZ Wiki installed, a "Dragon Mine Z - Ki Overcharge" category documents overcharging, blast size/power scaling, terrain destruction, and the signature Kamehameha β€” no extra setup, the articles just appear.
  • The signatureTechniqueIds client option now actually works: the techniques listed there decide which attacks get the signature voice lines and cinematic camera on your client. It previously existed in the options file but was never read.

πŸ› Fixed

  • Major server performance fix: the mod was scanning a 512-block-wide area for projectiles several times per tick per active player, both while charging and for several seconds after every fired blast. Searches are now tightly scoped, so big multiplayer fights tick much lighter.
  • Terrain destruction now respects the server's real DragonMineZ ki-griefing rules β€” the ki-griefing gamerule, protected master structures like Kami's Lookout, and WorldGuard regions. Previously only land-claim mods were respected; craters could dig into structures DragonMineZ's own blasts refuse to touch.
  • Overcharging past 175% no longer climbs at double speed while draining ki twice. Two overlapping charge systems were both stepping the charge every tick; only the intended one remains, so charge speed and ki cost above 175% now match what the config actually describes.
  • Boss and NPC ki waves are no longer shortened by the wave-length cap β€” it now only ever applies to a player attack this mod itself saw fired.
  • Beam clashes are no longer affected by the wave-length cap; a clash-locked beam always reaches the real clash point.
  • A leftover wave-length cap from an earlier attack can no longer apply to a later, unrelated wave.
  • Normal, non-overcharged casts no longer have their damage silently rewritten during the after-fire scaling window β€” only genuinely overcharged attacks get their damage corrected.
  • Several config options that were silently overridden by leftover internal guards are now honored exactly as configured, including the charge-pulse block cap and the disk-slicing duration. Default values behave identically β€” this only matters if you had customized one of these and wondered why nothing changed.
  • Fixed a small memory leak and stale crater rock particles lingering when a player logs out mid-effect.
  • A scheduled Kamehameha voice line can no longer play after you disconnect and join a different world or server.
  • Reduced network traffic while charging by removing two redundant sync packets that duplicated what DragonMineZ already sends every tick.
  • Idle players no longer pay a small per-tick cost building debug text that was immediately thrown away with verbose debug off, which is the normal setting.

πŸ“ Notes

  • enableManualOverchargeBackup is, despite its historical name, the actual overcharge engine β€” setting it false now cleanly disables charging past 175% entirely.
  • No config defaults changed in this version, so there's no need to delete your config file this time.

[1.1.0] β€” Battle Power/Transformation Scaling, Distance Fix, Flight Handoff

✨ Added

  • Blast visual scale now also grows with Battle Power and active transformation, not just charge percent.
  • After the temporary post-blast hover-safety window ends, the caster now hands off into DragonMineZ's own real flight state instead of just reverting to whatever state they had before firing β€” requires the "fly" and "kicontrol" skills unlocked.
  • Temporary hover safety now triggers on every fired blast, not just overcharged crater-creating ones, so the caster doesn't drop into a hole any attack made.
  • Wave/beam launch distance can now be given a configurable amount of extra reach at high overcharge instead of staying perfectly flat.
  • Release crater radius and depth are now independently configurable.
  • Charge-time ground-pulse crater radius is now actually configurable (see Fixed below).

πŸ› Fixed

  • Overcharging a wave/beam technique no longer also increases how far it travels β€” only its thickness, size, and damage scale with overcharge now. Distance stays pinned to a normal, non-overcharged cast, computed from DragonMineZ's own real distance formula rather than an arbitrary cap.
  • Transformation no longer boosts an overcharged attack's size β€” an overcharged blast now scales purely off Battle Power and charge, acting as if cast in base form. A normal, non-overcharged attack still gets the full transformation bonus.
  • Fixed the charge-time ground-pulse crater silently ignoring its own radius config β€” it was hardcoded to a fixed 20-block radius regardless of what was configured, which was the real cause of an oversized crater previously mistaken for the separate one-time release crater.
  • Fixed the Kamehameha signature voice lines never playing at all β€” the sound files existed in the mod's code but were missing from the shipped jar.
  • Fixed the Kamehameha signature voice lines overlapping and cutting each other off β€” each line now finishes playing in full, then waits a clean second before the next one starts. The final release line still plays immediately on release.
  • Fixed a Mixin target referencing the wrong method name, which had silently prevented the wave length cap from ever applying at all.

πŸ“ Notes

  • After updating from 1.0.0, deleting the mod's server config file once let the new/changed settings take effect cleanly.
