Description
Dominion — Colony, RPG, Research & Progression Overhaul
Dominion is a large-scale progression and management mod designed to turn a heavily modded Minecraft world into one connected campaign.
Instead of dozens of mods existing as separate systems, Dominion ties them together through research, colony development, technology progression, quests, RPG mechanics, exploration, combat and economy. Your colony becomes the center of progression: expand it, prepare resources, unlock technologies, train citizens, complete introductions to new mods and gradually gain access to increasingly advanced content.
Build a Dominion
Dominion expands MineColonies into a much deeper management experience. Your settlement is not just a collection of buildings—it becomes a functioning kingdom with logistics, production, research, citizens, warehouses, trade and long-term progression.
Manage:
-
Citizens, jobs and housing
-
Warehouse stock and colony-wide resources
-
Production and crafting requests
-
Couriers and logistics
-
Restaurants and food reserves
-
Tool and material reserves
-
Research and technology
-
Colony economy and shops
-
Diplomacy, kingdoms and warfare
-
Maps, claims and territory
-
Automated production planning
Dominion works alongside MineColonies instead of replacing its core systems, allowing native workers, buildings and logistics to remain an important part of gameplay.
Research That Teaches You the Modpack
Technology is not simply unlocked by paying huge stacks of resources.
In Colony Mode, research is built around preparation and introduction.
Before gaining access to an advanced technology, Dominion asks you to interact with the materials, components and systems that lead toward it. Required preparation items remain yours—Dominion remembers that you obtained them rather than consuming them as a research payment.
The idea is simple:
Learn the basics → prepare the components → complete the introduction → unlock the final technology.
Starter and intermediate items remain craftable so progression never traps you behind an item required to unlock itself.
Research can use resources across your player inventory, backpacks and colony storage, including buildings, workers and Warehouse racks.
Dominion Level also acts as a hard progression requirement, preventing players from skipping directly into late-game technology simply because they already possess the materials.
One Progression System for an Entire Modpack
Dominion can connect technology progression to many different mods and organize them into a larger civilization tree.
Examples include systems based around:
-
Create
-
Applied Energistics
-
Mekanism
-
Storage and automation
-
Agriculture
-
Engineering
-
Magic
-
Exploration
-
Weapons and combat
-
Transportation
-
Advanced manufacturing
Each technology can have its own introduction, preparation requirements, progression dependencies and unlock conditions.
The result is a modpack where discovering a new mod feels like unlocking a new branch of your civilization rather than simply finding another JEI page.
Academy & Guided Progression
The Dominion Academy acts as the knowledge center of the mod.
It provides guided introductions, technology roads, tutorials and progression objectives designed to teach systems as they become relevant.
The Academy can connect directly into Dominion's research tree, allowing quests and tutorials to become meaningful progression requirements instead of optional documentation.
Players can follow structured learning paths while experienced players can quickly see exactly what remains before the next unlock.
Advanced Colony Automation
Dominion extends colony management with automation designed for large settlements.
The colony can maintain reserve targets for important supplies such as:
-
Restaurant food
-
Basic worker tools
-
Charcoal
-
Production materials
Orders are only generated when the colony can realistically fulfill them from available resources or production chains.
When a colony receives a request for a craftable item it has not yet learned, Dominion can identify an appropriate profession and teach the required recipe instead of permanently blocking the request.
Custom or advanced production can also be restricted behind upgraded buildings, keeping automation tied to colony progression.
Offline Colony Support
Dominion is designed with persistent servers in mind.
When the colony owner is online, normal MineColonies logistics and worker behavior remain authoritative.
When the owner is offline, Dominion can use lightweight back-calculation for systems such as food consumption instead of constantly running expensive simulations.
This allows colonies to remain viable while reducing unnecessary server processing.
Modern Dominion Interface
Dominion includes a large ModernUI-based desktop interface that brings its systems together into one command center.
Pages include systems such as:
-
Overview
-
Colony management
-
Research
-
Academy
-
Current objectives
-
Quest roads
-
Warehouse management
-
Production
-
Shop
-
Citizens
-
Maps
-
D&D progression
-
Monster information
-
Technology databases
-
Settings and diagnostics
Windows can be opened independently, focused, minimized and grouped together.
Dominion also includes a Legacy interface mode for compatibility. Switching between Legacy and ModernUI fully rebuilds Dominion's UI session while retaining user preferences.
RPG & Adventure Systems
Dominion is not only a colony management mod.
It also includes RPG and adventure systems designed to make the player an active part of the world they are building.
Depending on configuration and installed content, Dominion supports systems including:
-
Races and origins
-
Character classes
-
RPG attributes
-
D&D-inspired progression
-
Skills and rewards
-
Arena encounters
-
Boss progression
-
Monster discovery
-
Quest chains
-
Collectible technology information
-
World events
-
Kingdom warfare
Combat integrations are designed to coexist with major animation and combat frameworks, with Dominion providing compatibility logic where multiple systems compete for control of the player.
Kingdoms, Trade & Warfare
As a colony grows, Dominion expands progression beyond individual buildings.
Players can develop larger political and economic systems involving:
-
Kingdom progression
-
Trading
-
Colony shops
-
Diplomacy
-
Territory
-
Claims
-
Armies
-
Raids
-
War
-
Rewards and recovery systems
The goal is to make late-game progression feel like managing an actual realm rather than simply constructing a larger base.
Built for Large Modpacks
Dominion is designed as an integration layer.
Its purpose is not to replace the mods in your pack, but to make them feel like parts of the same game.
MineColonies remains responsible for colony behavior. Technology mods retain their machines. Combat mods retain their combat systems. Storage mods retain their networks.
Dominion sits above them and answers the larger questions:
When should the player gain access to this?
What should they learn first?
How does the colony support it?
What does this technology mean for their civilization?
What should they work toward next?
The Goal
Dominion turns Minecraft progression from:
“Install 200 mods and use whatever you find.”
into:
“Build a civilization that gradually learns how to use them.”
Develop your colony.
Prepare new technologies.
Complete their introductions.
Build production chains.
Explore the world.
Train your people.
Expand your kingdom.
And eventually turn a small settlement into a true Dominion
