Distant Difficulties serves a simple purpose: A dynamic world boarder created through difficulty increases. To achieve this Distant Difficulties modifies the base game local difficulty logic. In vanilla local difficulty scales with the time spent in the area. Distant Difficulties preserves this but adds to it a distance from 0,0 factor. As you get further from 0,0 the local difficulty exponentially scales. Distant Difficulties also removes the hard cap on local difficulty allowing for difficulty to continue to scale as players move further out. Distant Difficulties influence on local difficulty lessens as players spend time in an area allowing for settlements to be founded in harsh lands and naturally lower the difficulty in the area.
