Dire Mobs – Alpha
Dire Mobs is a difficulty-scaling mod that enhances hostile mobs by introducing tiers, leaders, and rare powerful variants while staying close to vanilla gameplay. Encounters become less predictable and more dangerous, without rewriting mob AI or breaking compatibility with other mods.
Instead of every hostile mob being identical, Dire Mobs creates moments where certain enemies stand out, demand attention, and reward players who adapt.
Current Features
Mob tiers: Normal, Tough, Elite, Champion, and Mini-Boss
Visual indicators: Champions and Mini-Bosses glow, gain unique names, and announce their arrival
Equipment scaling: Armor, weapons, and enchantments scale naturally by tier
Leader auras:
Champions buff nearby mobs of the same type
Mini-Bosses apply stronger buffs and briefly debuff nearby players
When a leader dies, nearby mobs become weakened and disorganized
Bonus loot:
Champions drop additional diamonds
Mini-Bosses drop Netherite scrap
Currently supported mobs:
Zombies – Durable frontline leaders that empower nearby zombies
Skeletons – High-damage ranged threats that buff nearby skeletons
Design Goals
Preserve vanilla AI and behavior
Avoid constant ticking or heavy performance impact
Remain compatible with other mods
Allow configuration of core features such as spawn rates, auras, glow, and announcements
