What is Desolation?

Desolation is a modification of the video game Minecraft : Java Edition. You will be able to download this project to apply its content inside Minecraft : Java Edition.

What is the main focus of Desolation?

Desolation doesn't have one. 

Desolation focuses on quite a bunch of things to make the Minecraft survival mode feel less blend. It touches all areas of the game, whether it's world generation, new blocks, new ores, new mobs, new features, new mechanics... it's not just one modification : it is an entire overhaul of the game, in a way that fits perfectly in vanilla Minecraft, like if the game took a whole other path... this is the kind of vibe Desolation will give you. 
Think of it as Calamity from Terraria, but for Minecraft... this is a good depiction of Desolation

CAN I MAKE THIS MOD RUN???

UNLIKELY.
I'm new to modding okay? Don't flame me because I won't make the next Sodium or Vulkan
I have a good computer and Desolation will set fire to your potato computer... because Desolation is fire.

I will try my best to make this mod run on all devices. For now it's not too laggy.

Mod compatibility?

Trying my hardest to but this is compatible with MOST mods. Mods that I suppose will break Desolation or Minecraft with Desolation on are the ones changing terrain generation, dimension type or other stuff like that...
If you have any good suggestion for mod compatibility let me know
You will also need to install GeckoLib to play this mod because my custom entities are GeckoLib models

What version can I play Desolation on?

I will attempt to make a backport of Desolation for 1.21.11. You can find all versions you can play Desolation on in Game Versions widget. For now it's only 26.1.2

What does Desolation do and add?

Perfect question.
In Desolation, you could see a bunch of things, better illustrated by images :
- new mobs
- Sword parrying of 1.8 for those nostalgic of old Minecraft PvP (fully blocks though)
- a ton of new ores
- rebalanced mob drops
- new advancements
- new potion effects that would seem logical to implement inside vanilla Minecraft
- improved world generation in the Overworld and in the Nether (sometimes buggy though)
- new world presets for you to try, including Minecraft's traditional Nether, Desolation's augmented Nether and the DESOLATION MODE, a world with almost no water and barely any vegetation or resources, covered by an endless Wasteland...
- new structures that adds lore to the game and Desolation's own take on Minecraft's lore
- new building blocks, that come from the new biomes as well
- crawling simply by pressing one button
- a realistic temperature, hydration and hygiene system that you can disable at will
- brand new enchantments that look fantastic and pay off
- reimagined and balanced crafting recipes
- unique weather events such as firestorms and even meteorite rains
- upcoming content that will become even more insane as the mod evolves!
- two new custom difficulties : Elite for skilled players who want to feel difficulty that Hard did not provide them enough of in a casual way, and Merciless for the Minecrafters who want a spicy, very spicy challenge. One that they will feel proud of by completing...
- places that look disturbing but somehow familiar
- and sooooo much more...

Desolation will rewrite the rules of Minecraft. Literally. And it's a world where magic and science are tools for the Player to use in order to conquer this unforgiving world...

Where did the inspiration come from?

Lots of things but another game popular for its CurseForge mods called ARK did. I also put ARK and other pop culture references all across the mod.
As for people worthy to mention, whether it's for crediting them for helping me make this mod or another thing you can check it out in a file called "credits.txt" inside Desolation's files. If you can't I will here :
- Keltmaldan for Enhanced Enchanting 
- Mimickal for the water evaporation when exposed to Sun (the water evaporation doesn't work well in Desolation)
- the Permafrost's ambient sound came from there
