Desktop Screens 0.2.0 beta (NeoForge 26.2)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
More Minecraft versions. Each has its own file; pick the one for your version and loader:
- 1.12.2: Forge
- 1.20.1: Forge, Fabric
- 1.21.1: NeoForge, Fabric
- 26.1.2: NeoForge, Fabric
- 26.2: NeoForge, Fabric (OpenGL and Vulkan)
- 26.3: NeoForge (beta, like NeoForge 26.3 itself), Fabric
Changes on every version:
- Shared screens play more smoothly and look sharper: pictures that arrive in bunches still play evenly, a small monitor (like 1024 x 768) is sent at its own size, and video keeps more detail.
- The cursor on screens: the text cursor is black with a white edge, so it stays readable on a small screen. Pointer styles and sizes from Windows' settings show, and changing them back works too.
- A screen's picture shows only on its front; it no longer shows through the block from behind.
- Fullscreen (F11): Alt+Tab to a window on another monitor keeps Minecraft on screen; it used to minimize as soon as the switcher opened.
- A maximized windowed Minecraft is no longer moved a few pixels in from the edges while you use its monitor's desktop.
- The hints at the top of the desktop view fade out instead of vanishing at once.
Good to know:
- 26.1 and newer: using the desktop, watching a screen and picture-in-picture count as activity, so Minecraft's lower frame rate while you're away doesn't slow them.
- NeoForge 26.2 with Vulkan: NeoForge 26.2 itself can't start Vulkan with its loading screen. Set
earlyWindowControl = falseinconfig/fml.toml. Fixed in NeoForge 26.3. - 26.1 and newer: a NeoForge player can't join a Fabric server that has the mod (Fabric API's rule for modded blocks and items). The other way round works.
