What's new

Demons & Gods: Cultivation 0.85.42 (changes since 0.85.26)

New
- The Black Flame Roc, the first sovereign demon beast: a colossal black fire-bird nesting on a scorched mountain peak in every mountain region at least 800 blocks from Glory City. By day it soars over its land and attacks anyone within 96 blocks of its nest (talon dives, black-flame breath, wing blasts); villages in its land it burns to the ground, setting houses alight and scorching the earth black. At sundown it lands and sleeps till dawn, ignoring passers-by unless struck. It guards a hoard and drops rich spoils; 20 days after it falls, its heir nests on another peak nearby.
- The Mountain-Shaking Demon Ape, the second sovereign: a colossal demon ape on a throne of uprooted trunks in every jungle and dark forest at least 800 blocks from Glory City. It beats its chest to weaken you, leaps onto you, pounds the ground in shockwaves, hurls boulders torn from the earth, and smashes through trees and walls; villages in its land it wrecks. By day it roams its forest, at night it sleeps on its throne. It leaves woodland mansions alone.
- Sovereign spirits (Legend Rank to fuse), captured only from a slain sovereign (with an Empty Spirit Crystal, a chance by rank, as for any beast). The Black Flame Roc's: Black flame on every blow (water can't put it out); Black Flame Breath, a 2-second stream of black flame; beast form Roc Wings (glide, no fall damage, double flight time); in gear, black-flame weapons and arrows, searing armor, and Updraft soul tools (no fall damage, and mining underfoot lifts you).
- The Mountain-Shaking Demon Ape's spirit: +3 attack and heavy knockback; Mountain-Shaking Pound, a leap that lands in a shockwave; beast form Silverback (its fur, fists and silver hump; Strength, Jump Boost, far less fall damage); in gear, shockwave weapons, Boulder Arrows, armor that throws attackers back, and Silverback's Grip soul tools (no mining slowdown in the air or on ladders).
- Sorting: a ⇅ button (or middle-click on a slot) sorts chests, barrels, ender chests, shulker boxes, storage rings, hoppers, dispensers and droppers, and your inventory's main slots (never the hotbar): stacks merge and items line up by kind, then name.
- The Serpent-Coil Whip (iron, diamond and netherite; crafted from metal, a Jade Tongue Frog Spirit and leather): its lash reaches 6 blocks. Its technique, Coiling Lash (G), snags the foe you look at up to 10 blocks off and yanks it to your feet, dazed: it can't strike back until a moment after it lands. Bosses and sovereign beasts are too mighty to be moved.

Changes
- The Pill Refining Array matters now. Without one beside the cauldron half the pills are lost; tier I gives the full batch and each tier a quarter more (double at V). Pills above Low grade need an array of that tier (Mid I, High II, Earth III, Heaven IV). It widens the condensation flash, and from tier III a perfect condensation makes Potent pills (50% stronger, half the toxins). New: sneak + use the array with an empty hand for automatic refining: the cauldron takes herbs and catalysts from a chest beside it and puts the pills back in (only what you could make yourself; no alchemist experience).
- The Earth-Nose Mole spirit's Scent Trail now needs some ore in your hand (an ore block, or what it drops when mined: raw iron, coal, a diamond...; not ingots) and finds the nearest more of that ore; hold a different ore in each hand to follow both.
- Jade Tongue Frog soul tools: Greedy Harvest (an extra crop) is replaced by Gluttonous Gut: what you mine yields 20% more experience per level (double at level V).

Fixes
- The Verdant Growth Array spent its qi "growing" every grass block in reach, so on grassy ground it ran dry long before herbs or crops were grown. It now tends only real plants.
- Cultivators (family heads, stewards and others) could be stuck lying down while walking and meditating after the world was reloaded at night; they now get up and go back to bed properly.
- About half of all cultivators never went to bed at night (and party members were slow to follow their leader); a bed could also stay "taken" for good if its sleeper's area unloaded.
- Bounty hunts gave beasts names that didn't fit them (Stormhorn the Spirit Fox, Frostbite the Blazing Boar); each beast now has names of its own kind (Foxfire the Spirit Fox, Cindertusk the Blazing Boar). Untaken hunts already on the board are renamed.
- An unmasked Dark Guild agent's family could turn on the accuser (the agent was still counted as one of them). Unmasked agents are now cast out: their family and the city's people stand aside from the fight.
