Data Center

Data Center turns compute into a real SkyBlock resource: build server Racks, power and cool them, then route compute over a bandwidth-limited cable network to Synthesizers for materials or Mining Rigs/Hosting Racks for real crypto income

What's new

The SkyBlock half of this mod is now its own mod, SkyWorlds. Islands, zones, /island, the world type, the server spawn campus, the seasons, the champions' museum and the Discord board have all moved there. Data Center is what it says on the tin again: racks, compute, mining, heat, the shop and the market - in any world, on any ground.

A pack that wants islands needs SkyWorlds 0.2.0 or later. Add it and everything works exactly as it did, this mod included: seasons are still won on Compute with mining income breaking a tie, they still end the day the in-world calendar reaches the end of the bundled real Bitcoin history, the racks on the spawn campus and in the museum still blink in demo mode, and your starter kit still arrives with your island. Without SkyWorlds there are no islands and no seasons, and nothing else about this mod is any different.

This breaks existing SkyBlock saves. Nothing here reads what this mod wrote: the islands, the spawn flag and the season are stored under new names on SkyWorlds' side, and the season archive is a new folder. A world that ran Data Center's islands starts over. The public server is off and no such world is running, which is why this was allowed to be a clean break rather than a migration nobody would ever have tested.

Removed

  • The whole skyblock half: the spawn island and the campus, /island with its zones and visits, /season and /discord, the champions' museum and the season reset - all of it is SkyWorlds' now, with the same commands and the same words.
  • The "Data Center in the Sky" world type (datacenter:data_center_sky). SkyWorlds brings its own, called SkyWorlds, which leaves all three dimensions equally empty. A pack picks that one instead; a world already made with the old one keeps its empty generator and only loses the name in the world-type button.
  • The only mixin this mod had. It froze the block entities inside a champion's island on display, which is SkyWorlds' business now - so Data Center no longer touches vanilla's tick loop at all.
  • Every SkyBlock setting: startup.placeSkyblockIsland, startup.defaultToSkyWorldType and all of skyblock.* - islands, zones, leaderboards, the season countdown, the Discord invite, the champion radius, the automatic reset. They are spelled exactly the same in SkyWorlds' config/skyworlds-common.toml, so an existing server config can simply be copied across.

Changed

  • The leaderboards stay here - they are about Compute and mining income, which are this mod's - but the Hall of Fame wall they float in front of is part of SkyWorlds' spawn campus, so they only go up where SkyWorlds says one stands. skyblock.leaderboards is that mod's switch now.
  • The starter kit still comes with your island. SkyWorlds tells this mod the moment an island really exists, so a /island create that was refused still pays out nothing. startup.starterKitCommand is unchanged and still defaults to island create - it is SkyWorlds' command now rather than ours, and a pack driving its islands with something else sets its own command there as before.
  • Machine messages that could not be traced to an owner used to fall back to the island the machine stands on; they still do, when SkyWorlds is installed.
  • New Discord invite: https://discord.gg/7PBBUR32Yu. It lives in SkyWorlds' config now (skyblock.discordInvite).
