Data Center

Data Center turns compute into a real SkyBlock resource: build server Racks, power and cool them, then route compute over a bandwidth-limited cable network to Synthesizers for materials or Mining Rigs/Hosting Racks for real crypto income

What's new

[1.7.3] - 2026-09-13

A new server spawn with seasons, animated Ponder guides for every block the handbook explains, machines you can tell apart at a glance - and technicians who finally sell what they were trained to.

Added

  • Ponder scenes for every block the handbook explains. With Create in the pack, hold W over a Rack, a Mining Rig, the Log Buyer, the Workbench, a cable, a Simulation Node, an ASIC and some thirty more and a short animated build shows what it does and how it is set up, in the handbook's own words. Thirty scenes in all; the seven Simulation Nodes share one, every ASIC and FPGA model shares one. Without Create nothing changes - Ponder is an optional dependency
  • A countdown to the next season at the server spawn. A board over the notice board shows how long until the in-world calendar reaches the end of the real history (the pack's end date) - where one season ends and the next begins. skyblock.seasonCountdown switches it off
  • The Discord at the server spawn. A board with the invite, a clickable link in chat on every login and /discord. The invite is skyblock.discordInvite; empty switches all three off
  • Seasons and their champions. The spawn shows which season is running, and /season tells you too. The best team and the best solo player of a season - by the highest Compute they reached at any time, mining income breaking a tie - are crowned when it ends, and their islands are saved as they stand. In the next season, a fresh world, both islands are on display near the spawn: /season visit team and /season visit solo, a board in the Hall of Fame names them. Nothing there can be touched, by anybody, and no machine there runs - demo racks only blink. The archive lives in datacenter-seasons next to the world, so it survives the wipe. Operators can end a season early with /season end, and /season reopen undoes an end that came too early (the calendar moved by /time or a pace change); skyblock.championRadius is how much of an island is saved

Changed

  • Rack, Mining Rig and Hosting Rack no longer look alike. They were the same picture with a seven-pixel stripe of colour, and players could not tell them apart. Each now wears its job on every side: blue frames for computing, orange for mining, green for hosting, a matching band along the sides and rails inside, and a symbol on the roof - a chip, a coin, a cloud - for a hall seen from above
  • The Academy on the server spawn is rebuilt so newcomers find and understand it. Yellow arrows lead from the spawn point under a big floating TUTORIAL sign into a loop of eight stands - first dollars, the Shop, building a server, the bays, power, mining, hosting, Compute - each in its own colour with a working demo and a floating board that explains it in full sentences. The old signs were wrong in two places: data cables carry no power, and a Rack needs a consumer before it does anything. A server with the previous campus gets the new one on its next start
  • The handbook's Rack page describes power sharing as it works now - on every side, not only downward

Fixed

  • The server log is readable again. Every Rack, Mining Rig, Hosting Rack, ASIC miner and Synthesizer wrote its state to the log once a second - 99.6% of the public server's log, 32 MB in two hours. That is off now and back behind debug.machineLog for whoever is chasing a bug in one machine
  • The Data Center Handbook can be crafted again - a book and a Y(ST)Y cable. The recipe used a Patchouli recipe type the pack's Patchouli no longer has, so it failed to load on every start
  • Technicians trained to sell or refurbish now actually do it. Their bench work only ran when the game clock and the workstation's position happened to line up, which for 39 of every 40 workstation positions was never - a trained technician stood in front of a shelf of scrap and did nothing
  • A technician without the refurbishing course sells dead parts. Selling used to wait until a part had been refurbished three times, so a seller who could not refurbish never sold anything. One who knows how to refurbish still rebuilds a part first and only sells what is out of lives
  • Technicians say why they leave the shelf alone - no Salvage Bench nearby, no Thermal Paste, a part the Shop does not buy back or would pay nothing for, no account to pay into, or wages not paid. Each line is repeated at most every five minutes while it lasts
  • The Mining Simulator gives out diamonds you can actually see. A diamond was one roll in about 12,600 - some 40 hours of an early rack's whole output - which looked like none at all. It is as rare as an emerald now, about one roll in 316

[1.7.2] - 2026-09-13

A hotfix for a way to duplicate Server parts at the Workbench, found on the public server - with a fairer power share between neighbouring racks and a tidier FPGA screen along with it.

Changed

  • Racks share power on every side. Racks, Mining Rigs and Hosting Racks used to pass the power they do not need only to the block below them. They now hand it to any neighbouring Rack, Mining Rig or Hosting Rack on every side - up, down, left, right, front and back - that holds less, so a row, a wall or a stack runs off one cable wherever it plugs in. Between racks it moves half the difference towards the emptier one and each unit keeps a quarter of its buffer, so two racks never push power back and forth. Anything else below a rack - a UPS, another mod's machine - still gets the whole surplus, as before

Fixed

  • Parts could be duplicated at the Workbench. Its Server slot took a whole stack of empty cases, and a stack shares one set of parts - everything installed went into every case at once, and taking one case off left two fully built Servers. The slot takes one Server now, like every other machine slot, and a bench that already holds a stack refuses to install or remove parts until the stack is taken off
  • The FPGA and ASIC screen no longer draws text over itself. The chain selector put the chain's name and "click to reflash" into the same row, which is 152 pixels wide - measured with the game's own font, the two together needed up to 245. The hint is a tooltip now. The rate line with its Dogecoin bonus or solo block count reached 232 pixels in a 176-pixel window; the bonus has a line of its own. A SHA-256 ASIC, which got a selector once Bitcoin Cash existed, had no room reserved for it and drew it over the inventory; the room is reserved now for every machine with a choice.
  • A machine on Bitcoin Cash shows Bitcoin Cash. The screen showed "BTC/h" and Bitcoin's network hashrate, because both followed the algorithm instead of the chain.
