Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Changed
- The possession works the world first and its own powers last. Flying and squeezing were reachable after two failed attempts; they are now genuine last resorts.
- A failed attempt is still dropped fast, but failing no longer counts toward giving up on killing you, honestly. After four failures in one place, it relocates, walks you somewhere else, preferring somewhere dark and underground, where the monsters and the lava and the long drops are, and sweeps again from there;
- each sweep looks wider than the last: 24, then 40, 56, 72 blocks; only after five relocations with nothing found anywhere does it resort to Skyfall, and only when even that is impossible does it fall through to Grip. A nine-minute hard cap sits behind everything as a final backstop. It wanders for the first couple of minutes. Before it tries anything at all,
- it spends roughly two minutes drifting your body nowhere in particular, stopping dead mid-step for no reason, and turning your head — at the sky, at the ground, at nothing. Nothing in that phase is dangerous; it is there so the hallucinations have time to land.
- Hallucinations are mostly real mobs now. Vanilla models rendered in colours no mob has ever been — bone-white sheep, cows, wolves, and horses; near-black villagers, creepers, endermen, and witches — alongside the previous smears, figures, and tears. Drawn through the genuine vanilla renderers, so they are indistinguishable from the real thing until they fade.
- The world goes dark while you are possessed. Fog closes to about forty blocks and turns black, taking the horizon with it, and a further darkening scales with how far up you are looking, so when it tips your head back there is nothing in the sky. Client-side only: on a server, the player next to you is still standing in ordinary daylight, and it behaves identically in single-player.
Fixed
Relocation could fail and skip the possession straight into the air. The spot search only accepted sampled positions, which, on a platform or in steep terrain, could come back empty.
