What's new

0.6.0-alpha - Milestone F: the sky chapter and ending, plus fixes

Fixes and changes first

  • Silk hemp is trampled by jumping. A living creature that is airborne (jumping or falling) inside a plant destroys it and it drops what a broken plant drops; walking, sneaking, items and bats do nothing.
  • Boar steak. Wild Boars drop Raw Boar Steak (a burning boar drops Cooked Boar Steak) instead of pork, plus leather as before. Raw steak smelts into cooked steak in a furnace (3 and 8 hunger). Sacred Wolves accept both for bonding and healing. New 16x16 icons.
  • Ancestors and archers spawn across the Overworld: any dark place, day or night (vanilla light rules), with raised default weights 40 and 25 (older config files are upgraded once from 15 and 8). They are immune to sunlight as before.
  • Restless Ancestors, Ancient Archers and Oathbreakers drop nothing of Minecraft's: loot tables, equipment and rare drops are gone. The Oathbreaker's only drop is ancestral fragments.
  • Sanctuary Keeper armour is +2 in every stat: protection 4/7/6/4 (21), toughness 2, durability multiplier 24, enchantability 14.
  • Earlier in this series (rc.3): no name tags on Dacian mobs (Xaero stops printing them), a redrawn Wild Boar, a reworked debug menu.

Milestone F

  • Sky sanctuary (new structure, /locate SkySanctuary, config skySanctuaries and skySpacingChunks, default 20). A 41x41 site: a stone platform raised six blocks on a round pedestal over levelled terrain (up to an 8-block slope), a stair down the south face to the ground whatever its depth, a weathered ring wall with torches, a light-blue ritual ring around the Storm Altar, and three broken pillar stubs marked by sea lanterns. Two Storm Wisps keep watch. Planned in new terrain like the other structures, never over water, never within 200 blocks of another.
  • Q11 An Offering to the Sky (journal stage 12, your own progress): right-click each marked stub with 8 stone or cobblestone to rebuild the pillar (six blocks and a lantern); a pillar another player already restored is attuned to for free. With all three, right-click the Storm Altar with 8 ancestral fragments, 4 iron ingots and 1 gold ingot: +4 trust and permission to summon the Guardian.
  • Q12 The Unanswered Sky (stage 13 to 14): the Storm Guardian (260 health, +45% per extra participant up to four, boss bar, remixed sounds, new skin). Phase 1 (100-65%): each player is marked for 1.5 seconds, then 7 damage on the marker. Phase 2 (65-30%): adds a warned two-second expanding ground ring (6 damage) that you jump or hide from behind a pillar. Phase 3 (under 30%): volleys of three slow bolts (5 damage, stopped by walls and pillars, absorbed by shields), long open recoveries and up to three wisps. It never makes fire, weather or block damage. First clear: a Storm core, 12 fragments and +6 trust (100 in total); every rematch gives another core.
  • Storm Wisp (12 health, storm light shields it except for a glowing window of three seconds after it fires): it gathers a visible two-second charge, then fires one slow bolt. Drops an ancestral fragment. Only at sky sites and as the Guardian's adds.
  • The pact (stage 14 to 15): a Keeper closes the pact: the village's courtyard ward is lit (no spirit of the mod spawns naturally within 24 blocks; vanilla monsters and spawners are untouched; no chunk loading), a standard pole rises beside the memorial and you receive the Village Standard. Afterwards any Keeper can light the ward of another village.
  • Endgame gear from Keepers, for one Storm core each: Storm Falx (7 / 1.2, sweeps and breaks guards like the falx; fully charged hits store up to 3 energy and a fully charged hit on a spirit spends it for +1.5 damage per energy), Sky Spear (5 / 1.3; a fully charged thrust slows a spirit for 3 seconds), Stormguard Shield (384 durability; a block within 0.4 seconds of raising it turns one storm bolt into a charge worth +4 damage on your next hit on a spirit, 12-second cooldown). Powers share one 8-second cooldown, use the normal controls, affect the mod's spirits first and players only with pvpEffects.
  • New blocks: Storm Altar (64x64 art, stepped model). New items: Storm Core, Storm Falx, Sky Spear, Stormguard Shield, Village Standard. New 64x64 skins for the Guardian, a 64x32 wisp model, a 3D Stormguard shield, 16x16 icons, Xaero faces, wisp and guardian sounds, three advancements (An Offering to the Sky, The Unanswered Sky, The Pact Restored). The journal, Codex and debug menu cover all of it; the Keeper's panel gained a pact button, a ward button and the three commissions.
  • Validation: 74 unit tests (5 new); a 102-check dedicated suite (-Pstorm) covering layout, terrain rules, the wisp, bolts, walls and shields, Q11, every Guardian phase, victory, rematch, the epilogue, the ward, commissions and storm powers; the older oath (162), milestone D (241), cairn (110) and multiplayer (25) suites; a natural-terrain survey (-PskyNatural): 64 candidates, 36 planned, 3 built intact; client screenshots (-PvisualSky).
  • Known limits: the two watch wisps do not respawn; roughly one candidate in twelve survives the water and slope rules, so sky sanctuaries are rare (lower skySpacingChunks); the stair may reach beyond the footprint on steep ground; no human playthrough yet.
