What's new

Cultivation 1.0.0-beta.1 is the first public release — a farming overhaul for Fabric 1.21.1 that gives every farmland block a memory. Soil tires as you work it, variety pays better than monoculture at the plot and at the table, and the tools reward the players who plan. It adds no new crops or dimensions, and takes no vanilla recipe away. Everything below is new. This is a beta: the systems are complete and tested, but they have not had a public soak yet, so back up a world before adding it to one you care about.

Added

  • Living soil — every farmland block carries its own fertility. Harvesting drains it, and a fallow block recovers over about three in-game days, twice as fast in the rain. Tired soil grows slower and turns visibly pale and cracked; bone meal on empty farmland restores some of it instantly.
  • Soil overlays — soil condition renders as a client-side overlay over vanilla farmland rather than as new blocks, so it composes with Sodium, EBE, and shaders.
  • Polyculture — a crop bordered by two different crops grows faster. Alternating rows beat the monoculture slab, which is never punished, just outgrown.
  • Sniffers and bees — a sniffer in the field doubles the polyculture bonus, and crops near a beehive grow faster still.
  • A varied table — eating the same food repeatedly restores less each time, down to a floor; three different foods reset it entirely. Golden carrots stay excellent, they just stop being the only answer. Food effects are untouched, and the tooltip says plainly when a food is losing its appeal.
  • Worth the bowl — Rabbit Stew grants movement speed, Beetroot Soup faster block breaking, and Mushroom Stew slower hunger drain. Suspicious Stew rolls one of the three at double strength on top of its usual gamble, pumpkin pie and cookies carry one briefly, and cake grants all three per slice.
  • Enriched tilling — till with a diamond or netherite hoe and that block gains a permanent chance of an extra drop per harvest, lasting until the block reverts to dirt.
  • Fertilizer — the composter now produces Fertilizer instead of bone meal. One dose guarantees an extra crop for a block's next fifteen harvests, and stacks with enriched tilling.
  • The scythe — a tool in iron, diamond, and netherite. One swing harvests a full 3×3 of mature crops and replants each block from its own drops. Immature crops are skipped and Fortune applies per block.
  • The iron rake — the scythe's planting mirror. Hold the rake with seed in your off-hand and one right-click sows a 3×3 of farmland.
  • Bare-hand harvest — right-clicking a mature crop with an empty hand harvests and replants it in place.
  • Farmers who farm — villager farmers live by the same soil. Their harvests drain fertility, they rotate crops when a plot tires, and they leave exhausted ground fallow until it recovers. Nothing about trades, prices, or reputation changes.
  • Commands/cultivation soil, /cultivation diet, and /cultivation field report exactly what the systems are doing to the block, the player, and the plot in front of you.
  • Configuration — every system toggles independently from Mod Menu and Cloth Config or by hand, and /cultivation reload applies changes without a restart and re-syncs every client.
