The Crystal Infection is a spreading corruption mechanic that gradually transforms both living creatures and the environment into glowing teal crystal. When an infected entity is processed each game tick, its infection stage increases, causing progressively stronger movement and mining fatigue effects that make escape more difficult over time. Infected creatures can spread the infection to nearby living entities or infect others through combat, creating a contagious outbreak that rapidly expands if left unchecked. The surrounding world is also affected, as nearby blocks are converted into crystal variants, with dirt and grass becoming solid crystal, stone developing embedded crystal growths, and other natural blocks transforming into crystal-themed equivalents such as crystal sand, crystal wood, and crystal leaves. As the infection advances, victims progress through multiple stages—from healthy, to infected, to visible crystal growth, then becoming almost completely encased, and finally transforming into a fully crystallized being.
