Creeper Optimizer
See your creeper the moment you use the spawn egg, instead of one ping later.
On a server, using a creeper spawn egg normally does nothing on your screen until the server's reply comes back. At 100 ms of ping, every creeper shows up about a tenth of a second late. Creeper Optimizer draws a ghost creeper on your screen right away, in the exact spot the server will spawn the real one, then swaps it for the real creeper when it arrives.
⚠️ Alpha. Tested on a vanilla server with simulated lag. Not yet tested on Paper/Spigot or against anti-cheat plugins. Please report anything odd.
Features
- Instant ghost creeper when you use a creeper spawn egg on a block. It uses the same placement math as the server, and carries over charged and named eggs.
- Seamless swap to the real creeper when the server's spawn arrives.
- Rejection detection: if the server refuses the spawn (spawn protection, claims), the ghost disappears as soon as the server answers.
- Instant egg count: the count drops when you click, like placing a block, and the egg comes back if the spawn is rejected.
- Optional click blocking (off by default): clicks aimed at the ghost can be swallowed so flint and steel won't light the ground behind it. Off means clicks behave exactly as if the ghost weren't there.
- Customizable look for ghosts and real creepers separately: a color picker (or hex like
#3070FF) and three modes. Tint shades the normal texture, Recolor shows the color at full strength while keeping the pattern, and Solid uses one flat color with the face kept. Ghosts can also be made see-through; real creepers are always drawn fully opaque.
- Fuse visuals: dim the white fuse flash without changing its timing, or turn off the swell.
- Master switch, toggle key and per-server disable: turn the whole mod off in one click (fully vanilla while off), bind a key for it, or keep it off on specific servers.
- Mod Menu config screen. Mod Menu is optional.
Is it safe? (anti-cheat)
Creeper Optimizer is display-only:
- It sends no packets. Your clicks go to the server exactly as they would without the mod.
- The ghost exists only on your screen. The server, your opponent and anti-cheat never see it.
- It doesn't let you do anything sooner. You can't hit or ignite a creeper before the server has spawned it.
- By default, clicks go out exactly as they would without the mod. With the optional click blocking on, a click on the ghost sends nothing, which is never more than vanilla would send.
In short, it changes what you see, not what you do.
Limitations
- You can't hit or ignite the ghost. You still wait for the real creeper to interact with it.
- Only eggs used on blocks are predicted. Eggs used on water aren't yet.
- Your last egg's count isn't predicted, for safety.
- In singleplayer there's normally no lag to hide, so the ghost only shows for a tick. It's useful there with ping-simulation mods.
