Create: Warpanautics

A fuel-powered Warp Drive for Create Aeronautics airships. Jump your whole ship and crew to any spot in any world, with a big warp effect.

Create Warpanautics adds a Warp Drive to Create Aeronautics. Put one on your airship, pump in Warp Fuel, type in where you want to go, and the whole ship jumps there in a flash of light, crew and cargo included.

Flying across a big world takes ages, and a ship can't go through a Nether portal on its own. With a Warp Drive your ship can jump thousands of blocks in seconds, or straight into another world. It isn't free, though: it needs fuel you make with Create, bigger ships burn more of it, and enemy cannon fire can knock out a drive before it jumps.

Features

  • Jump anywhere: any X / Z in the same world, or another world: the Nether, the End, or modded dimensions.
  • Everything comes along: players and mobs on board, chests and their contents, and working Create contraptions.
  • A proper warp animation: a shell of light around the ship, a rift opening at the destination, an implosion and shockwave as it leaves, and a burst of light as it arrives. Everyone nearby sees it, not just the crew.
  • Warp Fuel made with Create: mix Chorus Fruit and Water, then pipe the glowing purple fuel into the drive.
  • Fuel cost based on ship size: a small scout ship jumps cheaply, while a huge warship needs a lot of fuel (or several drives).
  • Cannon fire can stop a warp: a Create Big Cannons hit or a missile explosion while the drive charges knocks it out.
  • Built for servers: drives lock to their owner, ships can't land in other people's claims, never overwrite blocks, and worlds can be blocked.

Getting started

  1. Craft a Warp Drive (recipe below) and place it anywhere on your airship before you assemble it. It has to be part of the ship to work.
  2. Make Warp Fuel. Put a Mechanical Mixer over a Basin, then add Chorus Fruit and Water. No heat is needed. Each Chorus Fruit plus 250 mB of Water gives 250 mB of Warp Fuel.
  3. Fuel the drive. Pump the fuel in with Create pipes, or right-click the drive with a Warp Fuel Bucket. Fuel can only go in, so nobody can drain your tank.
  4. Open the drive. Right-click it with an empty hand. The screen shows:
    • how much fuel the ship has (all drives on the ship together),
    • the ship's size and position,
    • a World button to choose where to go (click to cycle, sneak-click to go back),
    • X, Y and Z boxes. Leave Y empty to arrive just above the ground. Here fills in your current position.
    • the distance and fuel cost of the jump, before you commit.
  5. Press Engage Warp. The drive charges for 5 seconds. Stay on the ship! Then the ship jumps.
  6. Arrive. The ship bursts out of the rift at the destination, and the drive needs 30 seconds to cool down before the next jump.

Changed your mind? Open the drive while it charges and press Cancel Warp. Nothing is used up.

The warp, step by step

  • Charging (5 s): light streams into the ship from all around, a glowing shell with spinning halo rings forms around it, and beams of light shoot up and down. At the destination, a swirling rift opens and slowly grows, so anyone there can see something is coming.
  • The jump: the shell collapses onto the ship and flashes white. The ship vanishes in an implosion with two shockwave rings.
  • Arrival: the ship bursts out of the rift in a flash of light with a shockwave, and the rift closes behind it.
  • For the crew: a purple glow builds at the edges of the screen, light streaks rush past, the view stretches, and the screen whites out at the jump before fading back in. All of this follows the game's Distortion Effects accessibility slider, so it can be turned down or off.

Warp Fuel and costs

Warp Fuel is a glowing purple liquid. It works with everything in Create that handles fluids: pipes, pumps, fluid tanks, item drains, spouts and buckets. One Warp Drive holds 8,000 mB.

A jump costs fuel for every 100 blocks of ship: 10 mB, plus 1 mB for every 40 blocks travelled, plus 100 mB more when going to another world. No jump costs less than 10 mB. Some examples:

Ship size 1,000-block jump 2,500-block jump To another world
100 blocks 35 mB 73 mB about 110 mB and up
500 blocks 175 mB 363 mB about 550 mB and up
1,000 blocks 350 mB 725 mB about 1,100 mB and up
4,000 blocks 1,400 mB 2,900 mB about 4,400 mB and up

Big ships: put several Warp Drives on the ship. They all share their fuel, and any one of them can start the warp. Only one warp can charge on a ship at a time.

Cannon fire stops a warp

A ship is vulnerable while its drive charges. If Create Big Cannons is installed:

  • What counts: a cannon shell or autocannon round flying into the ship, or an explosion against it, disrupts the warp. Explosions include exploding shells, missile warheads from CBC Aeronautics Missiles, and TNT.
  • What happens: the warp field shatters into red shards and crackling electric arcs, the crew's screens glitch red, and the rift at the destination turns red and fizzles out.
  • The cost: the ship stays where it is, a quarter of the jump's fuel burns, and the drive needs 20 seconds to recover.

This makes escaping a fight a real decision: start charging too close to an enemy cannon and you might not get away. Server owners can choose which projectiles count, how big an explosion has to be, or turn it off completely.

Made for servers

  • Locked drives: a drive is locked to the player who placed it, so nobody can climb aboard and warp your ship away. The owner can unlock it from the drive screen to share it. Operators can always use it. Drives placed by a Deployer stay unlocked.
  • Claims are respected: with FTB Chunks or Open Parties and Claims installed, a ship can't land in or above someone else's claim. You're told whose claim is in the way. Your own claims, your team or party, and allies are fine. The check runs again right before the jump, so claiming the spot during the countdown also stops it.
  • No overwriting: a ship never replaces blocks where it lands. If something is in the way, it's lifted up until there's room. If there's still no room, the warp is cancelled and the fuel refunded.
  • Blocked worlds: stop ships warping into or out of chosen worlds, such as a creative build world or a spawn hub.
  • Limits: set a maximum jump distance, the charge time and the cooldown.
  • World border: ships can't jump outside it.
  • Logged: every warp, disruption and refund is written to the server log with the player, ship, coordinates and fuel used.

FAQ

Does it work without Create Big Cannons or a claim mod? Yes. Those features just switch themselves off.

Do players have to stand somewhere special? No. Anyone standing on the deck or inside the ship when it jumps comes along.

Can I warp into the Nether or a modded dimension? Yes. Every world on the server shows up in the World list, unless the server has blocked it.

What happens if I warp into a mountain? The ship rises until it's clear. It never breaks or replaces blocks.

Can I take fuel back out of a drive? No. If you break the drive, it keeps its fuel and you get it back when you place it again.

Does it need to be on the server and the clients? Yes, both. It adds blocks, a fluid, a screen and effects.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, Java 21
  • Create 6.0.x
  • Sable 2.0.3+ and AeroPortals 1.3.3+ (used to move ships between worlds)
  • Create Aeronautics to build the airships
  • Install on both the server and the clients.

Optional: Create Big Cannons and CBC Aeronautics Missiles (warp disruption), FTB Chunks or Open Parties and Claims (claim checks), JEI (to look up recipes).
