What's new
0.1.47 — 2026-10-24
Changed
- The station button stops at stations facing either way. Pressed between stations, it now takes the train to the next station ahead whichever way that station faces, so a train with a cab at each end can use it in both directions along a line built for one. Coming in from a station's back, the train stops with the cab you are driving from at the station, and it counts as being there: the station and its Disassemble button both see it, and disassembling there puts the train down where it stands, past the station. Where a station facing the train stands just beyond one facing away, as at the two ends of a single-track platform, the button still picks the one facing the train. Create's own controls, schedules and other trains still travel to a station only from the side it faces. A schedule handed to a train standing at such a station, whose stop is that same station, counts the train as already there and waits there for its conditions, as at a station facing it.
- Fragile blocks on a buildable train stay whole, with a setting to have them break. Sable breaks melons, pumpkins, cactus, bamboo, ice, lily pads and leaves when they hit something fast enough, and on a buildable train that happened whenever the train carried them into a block: under a low bridge or into a tunnel mouth they broke and dropped, and ice turned to water on the deck. Now they stay whole, as on a plain Create train. Standing, driving, curves and hard braking never broke them. The new setting Fragile blocks break (
fragileBlocksBreakOnTrainsin the config file, default false) brings Sable's breaking back when set to true. It is the server's setting. Only the train's own blocks: other mods' ships, and blocks in the world that a train runs into (a melon on the line, a tree's leaves), break as Sable decides either way. Leaves you placed yourself never broke.
Fixed
- Logging out asleep on your train brings you back to your bed on the train. If you close the game or lose your connection while asleep in a bed on your buildable train, you come back standing beside that bed on the train, wherever the train has gone since, as when you log out standing on its deck.
- Villagers and other mobs standing on a parked buildable train stay on it across a save and reload. A villager standing (not seated) on your parked train could be on the ground under the train after you Save and Quit and load the world again, or after a server restart. Now it waits where it stood until the train's build is back, then stands on the deck where it was. If the train moved meanwhile and its carriage is already back, it is put back on the train where the train is now. A mob that a player or another mod moved while it waited is left where it is now, and so is one whose train was disassembled meanwhile.
- A mob left behind by a train that moved while it was away is put back on the deck. When it loads after the train's build is already there, standing in mid-air where the deck used to be, it goes back to where it stood on the train instead of falling.
- A mob waiting for a train build that never comes back is let go once. After about a minute it is let go where it is, once and for good.
Fixed from 0.1.46's known issues
Villagers standing (not seated) on a parked train ending up on the ground after you save and reload is fixed above.
"A wrench relocation can sometimes keep the train's old facing" is no longer listed: in every relocation looked at since, curves included, the train faced the way you looked along the track, as a plain Create train does. If you still see it, send latest.log: every relocation writes what happened there.
Known/possible issues being worked on for the next updates
- Waking up on a moving train can leave you behind. If the night ends while your train is driving, you can wake up and the train drives on without you, leaving you on the track behind it. Sleep while the train is parked. A fix is coming.
- Dying on a moving train scatters your things along the track. Most of what you carried falls off the train and lands behind it, up to about 30 blocks back. Walk back along the track to pick it up.
- Do not relocate a buildable train onto track built on a ship or a deck. Relocating with the wrench onto track that is itself built on a Sable ship, an Aeronautics build or another train's deck can crash the game. Relocate onto track on the ground only.
- Respawning in a train bed under a low ceiling puts your head in the ceiling. With only one empty block above a bed or berth on a buildable train, you respawn standing on the bed with your head inside the block above. It does no damage. Leave two empty blocks above a train bed for now.
- With Railways Untold Additions, a bed on a buildable train can show its black "Sleeping on train" screen instead of letting you lie down in the bed. It has been seen with a bed from another mod. Being looked into.
- A pet that follows you does not come onto the train while you sleep there. It stays on the ground near the train. Tell it to sit on the deck before you sleep: sitting pets ride along.
- A buildable train's roof does not keep phantoms off. If you go a few nights without sleep, phantoms can still come for you under the train's roof. Sleeping in a bed on the train keeps them away as usual.
- Your body can lie the wrong way in a bed on a buildable train, a different way from one night to the next. Only a look.
- Train Controls can flicker as you walk up to them. Only a look. The cause is not found yet.
- On a server, a train turned round with the wrench can still swing sideways for about a second before it lines up. Only a look: the one-step turn is for single player.
- Rarely, huge stretched black or dark-red shapes can appear in the sky after you teleport (a waystone hop, say), sleep, or your game reloads its drawing (F3+A, a shader change). They are only left-over drawing - nothing in your world is affected - and F3+A clears them, sometimes after a few seconds. Earlier versions do this too. Being worked on.
- Keep a Display Link and its display on one carriage: a link writing to a display on another carriage points at nothing after the next reassembly.
- Right after a server restart, a cargo wait may still count old cargo until the train is loaded for the first time.
- A mob killed at full speed rides in front of the train for a second before it vanishes, so its experience lands further down the line.
