Create: Train Cruise Control
Stop holding W. In Create, keeping a train moving means keeping the accelerate key pressed for the entire journey. This addon fixes exactly that — and nothing else.
Take the controls, get up to the speed you want, let go of W, and the train holds that speed for you. Press S whenever you want to take over again.
How it works
- Right-click the Train Controls — exactly as you always have. Nothing about taking or releasing control has changed.
- Hold W to accelerate up to your desired speed.
- Release W. Cruise control engages instantly and locks in whatever speed you were doing. You'll see "Cruise Control Enabled" above your hotbar.
- Enjoy the ride. Open your inventory, chat, check a map, or just watch the world go by — the train keeps rolling.
There is no speed to configure and no menu to open. The speed you were travelling at when you released the key is the cruise speed. Want to go faster or slower? Tap W or S and release again at the new speed.
Taking back control
Cruise control disengages immediately when:
- You press S — braking and reverse are never automated. Control returns fully to you, and the train coasts down exactly as vanilla Create would.
- You press the cancel keybind — a dedicated key that drops out of cruise without touching the throttle, leaving Create's normal passive slowdown to take over.
- You release the Train Controls — a train never drives itself without a driver at the console.
Once you take the controls again, cruise control is ready to re-engage on your next release of W.
Keybind
The mod adds one keybind, Cancel Cruise Control, under the Create: Train Cruise Control category in Options → Controls. It is unbound by default — assign it to whatever key you like. Everything else works with Create's existing controls.
Design principles
This addon is deliberately tiny and stays out of the way:
- No new blocks, items, or recipes. Nothing to craft, nothing to unlock.
- No config files, no GUI. It works the moment you install it.
- Create's mechanics are untouched. Rails, stations, signals, schedules, conductors, couplings and the Train Controls block itself all behave exactly as they do in vanilla Create.
- Schedules are never affected. Cruise control only ever applies while a real player is driving. Trains running on a Schedule are left completely alone.
- Respects your speed limits. Cruise speed is capped by the same maximum you get from manual driving, including your throttle setting (mouse wheel at the controls) and the server's manual train speed modifier.
- Forward only. Reverse is always manual, by design.
Multiplayer
Fully multiplayer-aware. Cruise control is tied to the specific player driving a specific train — each driver controls only their own train, and cruise ends the moment they step away from the console.
Install on both the client and the server.

Compatibility
Because the addon only reacts to driver input and drives Create's public train API, it should be compatible with virtually any Create addon or train-related mod. If you find a conflict, please open an issue.
