What's new

Version 1.0.4 Forge

New machines

  • Lightning Collector: Attracts lightning strikes within 64 blocks. Lightning is harmless to the surroundings, causing no fire or damage. Each strike provides 500,000 FE (storage capacity: 1,000,000 FE). Transfers up to 4,000 FE per tick to adjacent blocks and cables.

  • Biogas Generator: Ferments organic waste (seeds, leaves, vegetables, meat, etc.) to generate a steady 32 RPM.

  • Tidal Generator: Generates power from water and tides, producing up to 64 RPM and reaching full power in the ocean.

  • Redstone Generator: Burns redstone dust or blocks to generate 96 RPM.

  • Treadmill: Animals and players on the belt generate rotational power. Larger creatures produce more power (a pig about 12 RPM, a horse about 36 RPM). Multiple creatures contribute up to 48 RPM. The belt visibly moves while running.

  • Advanced Solar Panel: Generates 64 RPM at 2,560 SU, four times the output of a Large Solar Panel.

  • Battery: Stores 400,000 FE and shares energy with adjacent machines and cables.

  • Energy Cable: Transfers energy over distances and connects automatically.

  • Power Pole: Transfers energy from nearby machines, including Dynamos, Batteries and Motors, through visible, sagging wires connecting poles up to 24 blocks apart. Each pole supports up to four wires, and poles can be stacked. Wires are not physical blocks, allowing players to walk underneath them.

New items

  • Energy Meter: Right-click a block to view its speed and stored energy.

  • Cable Spool: Connects two Power Poles by clicking each pole in sequence. Sneak and click a pole to remove its wires and recover the spools.

  • Redstone Core and Drive Belt: New crafting ingredients.

  • Full Battery: Available in the Creative inventory.

New features

  • Redstone control for generators: Solar Panels, Wind Turbines, Vertical Wind Rotor, Geothermal Generators, Water Turbines, Tidal Generators, Combustion Generators, Biogas Generators, Redstone Generators and the Treadmill pause when receiving a redstone signal. Fuel-based generators stop consuming fuel while paused. Goggles and the Anemometer display the paused state.

  • Automation: Hoppers, Create belts, chutes and unloaders can insert fuel into Combustion, Biogas and Redstone Generators.

  • Advancements: 12 new advancements, from building the first Solar Panel to obtaining the Lightning Collector.

  • Ponder tutorials: Animated guides for every machine, available in English and German. Press W to access them.

  • Goggle overlay: Create Engineer's Goggles display information about generators, Dynamos, Electric Motors, Batteries, Energy Cables and the Lightning Collector. They also explain why a machine is idle, such as nighttime, rain, blocked skies, insufficient heat, insufficient water or a redstone signal.

  • Battery persistence: Batteries retain their charge when broken and provide a redstone comparator output from 0 to 15.

  • Operating sounds: Running generators produce appropriate sounds, including crackling, bubbling, lava and water.

  • Particle effects: Running generators produce visual effects such as smoke, steam, sparks, bubbles and dust.

  • Tooltips: Every machine and block has a short description.

Improvements

  • Redesigned Solar Panels: Three distinct designs with tilted modules, support frames and rails. The Small Solar Panel features a bright aluminum frame, the Large Solar Panel uses a tall graphite frame with two modules and an inverter cabinet, and the Advanced Solar Panel features a golden cell array, a mast, mirror wings and glowing lights.

  • Improved Wind Turbines: Longer rotor blades with a more realistic profile, tapered tips, twisted surfaces and red blade tips.

  • Redesigned Treadmill: Features an orange drive cabinet, side frames, rollers, guard rails and an animated belt. The belt is lower so animals can step onto it naturally. Power output now depends on creature size, and the goggles display the number of creatures on the belt. A soft belt sound plays during operation.

  • Rotating machine shafts: Shaft stubs on Solar Panels, Wind Turbines, the Vertical Wind Rotor, generators, Dynamos, Electric Motors and the Treadmill now rotate according to network speed, including in Ponder scenes.

  • Distinct Solar Panel tiers: Solar Panels have clearly differentiated appearances. The Small Panel features an aluminum frame, corner posts and an LED connector housing. The Large Panel has a graphite frame, brass accents and ventilation grilles. The Advanced Panel features a golden frame, a lens pyramid, glowing energy strips and illuminated posts.

  • Consistent visual style: All block models use a unified design with rounded housings, cooling fins, brass rings and hazard stripes. Solar Panels connect visually, while frames appear only on exposed edges.

  • New models and textures: Updated models for all Solar Panel tiers, Wind Turbines, the Wind Tower and Vertical Wind Rotor, along with redesigned item textures and new machine textures.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed Wind Turbine rotor blades appearing too short and shapeless.

  • Fixed animals being unable to step onto the Treadmill because the belt was too high.

  • Fixed the Treadmill treating all creatures equally regardless of size.

  • Fixed machine shaft stubs not rotating.

  • Fixed Solar Panel tiers looking too similar.

  • Solar Panels and the Treadmill can now only be rotated horizontally with the Create Wrench, preventing shafts from pointing into empty space.

  • Improved in-game text formatting by replacing hyphens used as separators with colons or commas.

  • Fixed Wind Turbine blades appearing dark when a solid block was directly in front of them.

  • Fixed the Redstone Generator emitting light while idle.

  • Fixed the Lightning Collector's list not being cleared when closing a world, which caused it to grow when switching between worlds.

  • Power Pole wires sometimes disappeared: Wires are now rendered by both connected poles, and the wire render distance has been increased from 128 to 256 blocks.

  • Fixed wires disappearing when the pole at the other end was far away or not loaded on the client. Wire attachment points are now calculated from the direction to the neighboring pole.

  • Fixed unwanted connecting surfaces appearing between adjacent wires.

  • Fixed inconsistent wire brightness between the two ends of a connection.

  • Fixed the Cable Spool connecting to a lower pole after another pole had been placed on top of it. Invalid pole selections are now cleared.

  • Fixed jerky animation of the Treadmill belt, Wind Turbine rotors and Vertical Wind Rotor after long play sessions.

  • Fixed the Electric Motor goggles always displaying "Idle" even while the motor was running.

  • Fixed the Treadmill counting creatures standing on blocks above the belt and counting riders or passengers separately from their mounts.

  • Wind Turbines and the Vertical Wind Rotor now skip unloaded blocks when checking the rotor area, preventing unintended chunk loading.

  • Reduced unnecessary network traffic from Dynamos and Electric Motors by sending updates only when their state changes.
