Create: Gravity Batteries
Gives a kinetic network a memory, using the oldest idea in engineering: pick something heavy up while you can, and let it back down when you can't.
A water wheel that turns all night while your factory sleeps is turning for nothing. Then every machine starts at once and the whole network trips. One block fixes both.
Building one
Put a Gravity Battery on a shaft like a Rope Pulley, build something heavy underneath, glue it together, and right-click. It takes hold of the weight and doesn't let go — a battery isn't a lift, and its charge is where that weight is.
From then on it decides for itself:

Turn it either way; rotation direction doesn't steer it. A battery taking over holds the speed the network was already running at, so it never speeds your factory up.
Two numbers are the whole design
- The weight is how much power it supplies.
- The drop is how long it supplies it.
That's not a balance table, it's what mechanical work is — the maths falls out that way. A bigger weight is a bigger generator, not a longer-lasting one. Only height makes a battery last. And gearing it up buys nothing at all.
The weight falls until it hits something and stops there. That's the design, not a limit: the battery measures the drop when it picks the weight up, and that measurement is its capacity.
Reading one
- Goggles — the mode, why it's idle, a charge bar, and the weight
- Comparator — the charge, 0–15
- Threshold Switch — the charge as a percentage, with a redstone output at a level you set. This is how you start a backup boiler before the battery runs out.
- Display Link — the mode or the charge, on a Display Board
Includes an animated Ponder scene. Everything is configurable; gearReduction is the dial that moves it from "covers a hiccup" to "covers the night".
