What's new
Additions
- Map Table compass: a small static compass rose in the bottom right corner of the Map Table GUI for reference.
- Rangefinder bearing scale: a sliding bearing scale above the reticle, with ticks every 5° and longer ones every 10° and 45°.
- Compass labels (N, NE, E…) appear when true north is known: always on a fort (in-world), and on a ship when a Navigation Table with a Redstone Magnet is on the battle network.
- Relative bearing labels (BOW, STBD, STERN, PORT) appear above the compass ones when a Navigation Console is on the same ship.
- New rangefinder readouts:
- REL: bearing relative to the bow. Needs a Navigation Console.
- ELE: elevation of the line of sight. On ships it needs a Gimbal Sensor.
- Pivoting lenses: Rangefinder Lenses now tilt to follow the operator's look. Lens pitch is driven by the bearing's network, so a faster network moves them faster.
- Higher elevation: rangefinders can now look up to +60° (was +30°) for anti-air gunnery.
Changes
- The operator's look stays on the tube. It is constrained to at most 10° in any direction, so a slow tube can no longer be overtaken. If the network stops, the view stays held near the tube.
- Ranging needs both the tube yaw and lens pitch on target. The markers only merge once both the tube and the lenses have caught up with the operator's look.
- Rangefinder Lens placement rules. Lenses now tilt around the bar, so a lens set ahead of or behind the axis, or perched on top of a block, would drift away from its mount. To avoid this, lenses must be carried end-on by the bar, in line with the bearing axis. Tubes violating these rules will not assemble. Decorative endcaps on the outer side of the lenses are fine.
- True bearing readout on ships needs a heading source. On a ship, the BRG readout now shows "--" unless a Navigation Table with a Redstone Magnet is on the network. Forts (in-world emplacements) are unchanged.
- Ponder and tooltip: Rangefinder Bearing ponder and tooltip now explain which blocks give absolute bearing, relative bearing and elevation.
- Russian translation updated.
Fixes
- Stale Rangefinder range and rate readouts now clear to "--" once the Ballistic Computer stops holding the reading.
Compatibility
- Rangefinders that are already assembled keep working and get the new lens rendering automatically.
- A tube whose lenses break the new placement rules keeps working until disassembled. After that it needs its lenses placed correctly before reassembly.
