Create Clipboard Box

Expands your Create clipboard into a complete bill of materials, then automatically gathers the ingredients from bound storage, crafts them, and deposits the results.

Create Clipboard Box

Turns Create's clipboard into a working materials ledger — expand a product list into raw materials, check them off against your storage, and automate the crafting.

Create's clipboard is great for jotting down what you need, but it stops there: it cannot tell you what a stack of precision mechanisms is actually made of, and it will not help you gather or craft any of it. Create Clipboard Box adds that missing layer. It reads your clipboard, recurses the whole recipe tree down to raw materials, writes the result back onto a second clipboard, then pulls those materials from storage you bind, crafts the intermediates, and deposits the products — all driven by a few /ccb commands.

The mod adds no blocks or items of its own. It is a tooling and automation layer on top of create:clipboard.

Features

1. Bill of materials — /ccb expand

Hold your product list on a clipboard in your main hand and an empty clipboard in your off hand, then run /ccb expand. The mod walks the crafting recipe tree for every unchecked entry, recursing through intermediate products until it reaches raw materials, then writes the tallied totals onto the off-hand clipboard — same format, same checkboxes, paged automatically.

  • Only unchecked entries are expanded, so partially finished lists keep working.
  • Items with no crafting recipe are treated as raw materials; recipe cycles are cut off safely.
  • A recursive depth limit prevents infinite loops on modded recipe chains.
  • Multi-choice ingredients (any planks, any logs, wool colours) resolve deterministically instead of drifting with datapack ordering — configurable, defaulting to oak for wood, and Create's cardboard / sheets / framed glass for their respective families.

2. Container binding — /ccb bind

Point your crosshair at a block and bind it as an input (materials come from here), an output (products go here), or a workbench. Bound blocks are drawn with unobstructed coloured outlines — green for inputs, red for outputs, yellow for workbenches — so you can see the whole setup at a glance without anything being hidden behind terrain.

Bindings live for the current session only and are cleared when you leave the world. Inputs and outputs can be bound in multiples, so one order can draw from and deliver to several chests.

3. Automated crafting — /ccb craft

One command starts a single-pass crafting run:

  1. Works out the full demand from your main-hand product list, recursing into intermediates and reusing any already sitting in your input containers.
  2. Scans the input containers and updates the off-hand clipboard's checkboxes and quantities to match what is actually available — so you can see exactly what is missing before committing.
  3. Pulls precise amounts, lays out each recipe, crafts, and deposits the results into your output containers.
  4. Ticks off finished products on the main-hand clipboard.

It crafts as much as your materials allow rather than failing outright on a shortfall, and it writes its progress back as it goes — so if a run is interrupted, re-running /ccb craft resumes instead of redoing finished work. Running /ccb craft again cancels a run in progress. Failures report the specific bottleneck in plain item names rather than a generic error.

How it runs depends on where you are:

Environment Execution
Singleplayer Direct server-side operation, any loaded and bound block, unlimited range
Multiplayer, server without this mod Client-side GUI automation — your character stands still and works through the bound containers and workbench
Multiplayer, server with this mod Server-side direct execution via a request packet

The mod works installed on the client alone — on a vanilla or unmodded server the GUI-automation path handles everything, and no operator permissions are required, because the main /ccb commands are client commands. Installing it on the server as well is optional and switches crafting over to direct server-side execution, which is faster and more reliable.

4. Crafting tree editor — Page Down or /ccb tree

An interactive canvas view of any expanded recipe tree. Pan, zoom, and edit in place:

  • Right-click empty space to open a searchable item picker and add a target product; multiple targets sit side by side on one canvas.
  • Right-click a node for its context menu — change the material variant, set it as a raw material, change the amount, or delete it with its subtree.
  • Left-click to select, then Shift+scroll for ±1, Ctrl+scroll for ±64, middle-click to type an exact amount. Changing a quantity recomputes only that subtree and raises ancestor amounts to match.
  • Finish Editing writes back to your held clipboards — products to the main hand, raw materials to the off hand. Each hand is written independently and reported if missing.

The tree editor also opens with no history, so you can build an order from scratch without running /ccb expand first.

5. Material check against storage — Page Up

Toggle item-check mode, then right-click any container while holding a clipboard. The mod reads its contents and deducts them from your clipboard entries — quantities go down, and entries that are fully covered get ticked off. A chest holding 64 of a 256-material requirement updates the line to 192; a chest that fully covers a 32-item requirement ticks it off.

Reaching containers without opening a GUI is a deliberate design point: Create's item vault has no GUI at all, so its inventory is never sent to the client. This mod reads it authoritatively on the server thread instead, so vaults and barrels work exactly like chests. Shift+right-click still places the clipboard as a block, as in vanilla Create.

6. Material packing — /ccb barrel and /ccb vault

Pack the unchecked materials from your held clipboard into mixed-content barrels or Create item vaults, filling slot by slot across multiple containers as needed. Overflows drop at your feet rather than vanishing. Requires creative mode or operator permissions, since it generates items.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1
Mod loader NeoForge 21.1.220 or newer
Dependency Create 6.0.10 – 6.0.x
Side Client required; server installation optional
Optional JEI 19.37+ (used for faster recipe layout on the multiplayer automation path; the mod falls back to direct clicking when absent)

Commands

Command What it does
/ccb expand Expand the main-hand product list into raw materials on the off-hand clipboard
/ccb craft Start a crafting run; run again to cancel
/ccb bind input\|output\|workbench Bind the targeted block to a role
/ccb unbind [all] Clear one or all bindings
/ccb list List current bindings
/ccb tree Open the crafting tree editor
/ccb barrel / /ccb vault Pack clipboard materials into barrels / item vaults
/ccb debugstate Dump the automation state machine to chat for troubleshooting

/ccb debug [on\|off\|always\|now] Diagnostic logging controls
/ccb debugbind input\|output\|workbench <pos> Bind a block by coordinate instead of by crosshair

Key bindings

All rebindable in Options → Controls → Create Clipboard Box.

Default Action
Page Up Toggle material check mode
Page Down Open the crafting tree editor
Insert / Home / End Toggle input / output / workbench bind mode
Delete Toggle unbind mode

Configuration

A config file is generated on first launch. Useful options:

  • forceRawItems — item IDs to always treat as raw materials and never decompose further. Defaults cover slime balls, andesite and andesite alloy. Useful when your modpack has a recipe for something you would rather buy or mine.
  • forceRawCreativeIngredients — also treat everything in the creative Ingredients tab as raw (on by default).
  • preferredItems — which candidate wins for multi-choice ingredients, with * wildcards. This is what keeps "any planks" from silently meaning acacia.
  • macroMaxSetsPerPacket, macroTickWait — tuning for the multiplayer automation path: how many sets to lay out per packet, and a global wait multiplier if the macro is outpacing a laggy server.
  • debugLogMode — OFF, FAILURE (default) or ALWAYS. On failure the mod dumps the full crafting state to logs/createclipboardbox/ as a human-readable log plus a complete NBT snapshot, so a bug report can be replayed. Can be overridden per-launch with -Dcreateclipboardbox.debugLog=ALWAYS for diagnosing a server you cannot edit.

Edit and run /ccb reload — no restart needed.

Compatibility & notes

  • Oversized inventory slots are handled correctly. Mods that raise a slot's capacity beyond the vanilla 64 — storage upgrades, backpacks, and similar — are read and drained to their real slot limit instead of being capped at a stack, which would otherwise make the mod report materials as missing while they sat in your inventory.
  • Create 6.0.10 – 6.0.x is supported. Newer Create majors may need an update.
  • The mod is designed around crafting table recipes. Other Create production chains (mixing, pressing, sequenced assembly) are outside its scope and are treated as raw-material sources.
  • Bindings and crafting tree records are session-scoped and intentionally not persisted, so a fresh world never inherits a stale setup.

Feedback

Bug reports and suggestions are welcome — please include your NeoForge, Create and mod versions, and if a craft failed, the log from logs/createclipboardbox/ if you have it. That snapshot contains everything needed to reproduce the run.
