Changelog

2026-06-30 Version 1.0.0

After months of development, Gadgets & Gizmos finally reaches Version 1.0.0!

This update focuses on new articulated bearing systems, improved control blocks, stability fixes, and a huge number of quality-of-life improvements.

Fixes and Updates

  • Scaled the new Thruster inventory icon down to better fit the inventory slot.
  • Fixed Portable Contraption Controllers not ticking when exiting interact mode.
  • Added shader compatibility for thruster smoke plumes and focused FE beams.
  • Claw now works correctly on dedicated servers and can find and attach to Rope Connector blocks.
  • Contraption Controllers now correctly work with the Contraption Network Linker for direct redstone control that got broken in the previous update.
  • Servo Bearing (previously Thruster Bearing) now works correctly with the Advanced Data Link again.
  • Cleaned the Thruster block model to fix artifacting and rendering issues when on a sub-level.
  • Added Advanced Data Link pre-configuration pipeline to attempt to pre-configure it's settings when placed based on it's source input.
  • Portable Contraption Controllers no longer dupe Contraption Network Linkers.
  • Contraption Controllers Now correctly load pre-saved bindings from Contraption Network Linkers when placed in the slot.
  • Contraption Network Linkers no longer overrite saved bindings when adding/removing linked blocks.
  • sable_tracking_points.dat bloat caused by a leak with failing cleanup when using the Contraption Network Linker (*Important - See notes)
  • Made the page scroll behaviour on Shipping Manifests require Sneak + Scroll
  • Fixed a crash when assembling Contraption Controllers containing Contraption Network Linkers due to a timing error.
  • Added support for TFMG fuels in /data/createthrusters/thruster_fuels.json.
  • Fixed a bug with the Thrusters that stopped them working under some situations.

New Additions

  • Bi-directional Gearshift

    • Single block with dual lanes. Each lane can be configured independently as either Directional or Passthrough.
    • Passthrough transfers rotation directly from input to output.
    • Directional uses redstone to control the output direction, similar to the Directional Gearshift.
    • Power the non-shaft faces directly to control all Directional axes, or bind individual axes to Redstone Link frequencies through the configuration GUI.
  • Vector Bearing

    • New bearing block that doesn't require rotational input and can tilt its head and attached sub-level in any direction.
    • Supports control via redstone inputs, an Advanced Data Link, Contraption Controller, or CC:Tweaked.
    • Supports binding Redstone Link frequencies and configuring the maximum tilt angle (up to 89°) through the GUI (Sneak + Right Click).
  • Aileron Bearing

    • New Dual sided bearing with per side control, useful for Flight Control, Robot Joints, VTOL Nacelles, Folding Mechanisms, or any other articulated contraptions.
    • Basic control modes include:
      • Single - Only move the Primary(cyan) head.
      • Mirrored - Move both heads in the same direction.
      • Opposed - Move both heads in opposite directions.
      • Precise - Use CC:Tweaked, Advanced Data Links, Contraption Controllers, GUI set Redstone link Frequencies to set precise angles per head independently.
      • Free Single - No control, Spins the Primary head continuously based on the speed and direction of the input rotation.
      • Free Mirrored - No control, Spins both heads continuously in the same direction based on the speed and direction of the input rotation.
      • Free Opposed - No control, Spins both heads continuously in the opposite directions based on the speed and direction of the input rotation.
    • Input modes include:
      • Redstone - Redstone signal strength on the non shaft/non head faces controls the angle and direction of the heads.
      • Servo - Input shaft angle and direction controls the heads angle and direction (Best paired with a Smart Gearbox).
      • Computer - CC:Tweaked, Advanced Data Link, Contraption Controller, input mode.
      • Auto - Attempts to auto detect the input mode.
    • Optional Sneak + Right click used to configure min/max angle range per head, and Redstone Link frequencies per head
      • GUI is a placeholder until the correct one is finished being designed
  • Mini Thruster

    • Same great thruster, smaller foot print!

Block Models and Texture Overhaul

  • Shipping Manifest text colour is now dynamically switched between White and Black based on the brightness of the selected dye colour for improved contrast and readability.
  • Shipping Manifest blocks can now be dyed.
  • Shipping Manifest can be dyed with Glow Ink Sacks to make the text glow for better dark/night time visibility.

NOTES

  • New blocks don't have Ponders yet, they will be added in a future update.
  • If world/server crashes when joining after this update, navigate to [your_world]/data and delete the sable_tracking_points.dat file then restart your game/server

SPECIAL THANKS!

  • Special thanks to my community and contributors! Without them this addon wouldn't be possible.
  • Djrag for the updated block models and textures.
  • RayRay for the updated GUI elements.
  • Christeroph (and Lomens) for being great friends and providing the a license to include some music in the addon:
  • BigJim for the continued support, feedback, and coverage.

All people mentioned above have custom in game mannequins that function as posable (sneak + right click) armor stands, and can be placed on seats to replace mobs on contraptions
