What's new

2.1.7

Fixed: items duplicated or lost when clicking a linked storage slot

Clicking the slot of a linked drawer or storage controller (Functional Storage, Storage Drawers and similar) could duplicate or delete items:

  • clicking the slot while holding a different item put the whole content of the slot in your hand (1872 cobblestone from a single click) while the drawer lost only 64, and the item you were holding was gone;
  • pressing a hotbar number key on the slot did the same thing with the hotbar;
  • an item the container refused, for example on a locked empty drawer, was deleted instead of staying in your hand.

The station now handles clicks on linked slots itself and only moves what the container really gives or accepts. Left click takes a stack, right click half a stack, Q one item, Ctrl+Q a stack. Clicking with a different item in hand does nothing.

If you played with linked drawers or controllers on 2.1.6 or earlier, check them for duplicated items.

Fixed: items could not be put back into a linked drawer by hand

With more than 64 items in the slot, clicking it with the same item did nothing. Now the items go in, up to what the drawer can hold, and the rest stays in your hand.

Changed: leftovers go back to the drawer they came from

Shift-clicking the grid puts items back into the exact drawer they were taken from, even when that drawer has been emptied in the meantime. Before, an empty drawer was ignored and the items ended up in your inventory.

Fixed: "Found a broken recipe" in the log with recipes bigger than 3x3

Every launch, a pack with crafting recipes bigger than 3x3 filled the log with a JEI error for each of them, twice with Cyclic installed. The recipes worked and showed up in the station's own categories, so it was only noise. JEI indexes every crafting recipe on a 3x3 grid, and the station now takes care of the bigger ones before JEI gets to them. Every other recipe is handled exactly as before.

2.1.6

Fixed: item duplication with large aggregated storage

Linking a Crafting Station to a storage controller or network that reports a huge total (a Functional Storage controller, Storage Drawers, Colossal Chests, or similar) and then taking items out of it through the station duplicated part of the stack. Every action that removed items from one of these slots (a normal shift-click, refilling the grid, or JEI clearing the grid with "+") could nearly double what was left in the linked storage, compounding with every further action.

The cause: these storage types report their full aggregated count through the standard item-handler API, but often only ever move one stack per call regardless of the amount requested. The station assumed a single removal call always succeeded in full and put back what it thought was left, duplicating the difference. It now tracks the exact amount actually moved instead of assuming.

Fixed: item duplication from machines with a blocked input slot

Linking a Crafting Station next to a machine whose input slot cannot be extracted from the outside (so a pipe cannot steal the item mid-process; several machines work this way, including some in the author's own Void Relic) and then shift-clicking that slot in the station duplicated its whole content: the item stayed in the machine and a full copy filled every free slot in the crafting grid and inventory.

The station used to assume that moving an item out of a linked slot always succeeds, then wrote back whatever was left over. When the slot refuses extraction outright, nothing was ever really removed, so what the station handed to the player was created out of nothing instead of taken from the machine. Linked slots are now checked first, and one that cannot be extracted from is no longer offered as a source at all, exactly as if you tried to shift-click it by hand.

If you used 2.1.1 or 2.1.2 with either kind of storage or machine linked to a station, check for stray duplicated items.

Changed: shift-click on a linked slot moves one stack, not everything

A linked container that aggregates a lot of stock (Functional Storage, Storage Drawers, a network controller) reports its whole content as a single slot. Shift-clicking that slot used to bring the entire amount into your inventory in one go: a drawer with 2000 cobblestone filled a couple dozen slots from a single click, instead of the one stack every other interface (the drawer's own screen, AE2 and Refined Storage terminals) gives you.

Shift-clicking a linked slot now moves one stack at a time (one item's worth of its own stack size, so 64 cobblestone, 16 ender pearls and so on), exactly like taking from it by hand. Clicking again takes another stack. This does not change shift-clicking the crafting grid, the result slot, or your own inventory, and a slot that refuses extraction still refuses it.

Fixed: recipe items floating above the station glowed through walls

The small floating items shown above a station with a recipe in its grid were rendered with the same effect the Glowing status effect uses to show a mob through walls: an unused parameter left over from copying a render call, not anything intentional. They looked fluorescent and stayed visible through solid blocks.

Changed: floating recipe items now scale to the station's grid

The floating items were always laid out for a 3x3 grid. On the Resonant, Transcendent, and Infinite stations (5x5 up to 9x9), items from the same recipe overlapped each other or spilled past the block's edges, because the 3D model is the same size regardless of tier. They now space and scale down to fit the tier's actual grid, keeping the same look the basic station always had.

2.1.2

Fixed: JEI "+" ignored your inventory

With no linked container on the station (or with containers only on some sides), the "+" button could fail to pull ingredients from your own inventory and only worked from linked chests. It now takes them from your inventory too.

Changed: crafted leftovers go back where they came from

When JEI's "+" button (or shift + "+") clears the grid to make room for a new recipe, the leftover items used to land in the first linked chest. With a storage controller or a big drawer network linked to the station, those leftovers ended up clogging the chests instead of returning to the network.

Items now go back with this priority:

  1. the container they were taken from;
  2. a container that already holds a stack of the same item;
  3. any other linked container, largest first (a controller or storage network before a small chest).

Whatever does not fit falls back to JEI's usual behaviour.

Changed: short item counts in linked containers

Containers holding thousands or millions of items no longer overflow the slot. From 1000 up the count is abbreviated progressively: 999, 1k, 1.1k, 1.2k ... 99.9k, 100k ... 999k, 1M, 1.1M and so on. Hover the slot and the tooltip shows the exact amount.
