Description
Two dozen cosy, block-bodied golems that live in your world, do small jobs, chat with you and with each other, and remember every player they meet.
A walking furnace that smelts for you. A teapot that kneels to pour you a cup of tea. A jukebox that conducts your note blocks. A paper lantern that opens like a flower on its moon night and sends sky lanterns drifting up. A smug little display case in a crown that appraises your loot. Each golem has one job, its own personality and a few hundred words to say about it.
Features
- 24 golems, each with an animated model, a job and its own voice.
- Speech bubbles and a dialogue screen (sneak + right-click) with choices, written for every golem.
- They remember you: first visits, regulars, long absences, the daily cup of tea, whether you said "no thank you" to the Porter.
- They talk to each other: two idle golems near a player strike up short conversations, warmer or frostier depending on the company.
- Build them like vanilla golems (a head block on two body blocks), or use spawn eggs.
- Fragile but never lost: a golem that dies drops a core that holds its name, memories and settings; repair the core on an anvil and set the same golem back down.
- A wand for ops: presets, names, follow or stay, a new home, work waypoints.
- Cheap to run: golems do almost nothing unless a player is near; about +0.1 ms per tick for 100 idle golems on a dedicated server.
- Data-driven: every line of dialogue, every preset, trader offer, tune and poem is a datapack file you can replace.
- Works with shader packs (Oculus or OptiFine) and is never a target for mobs; turrets from Silence's Turrets ignore golems out of the box.
The golems
| Golem | What it does |
|---|---|
| Greeter | Keeps a room cosy: lamps on when you arrive, candles at dusk, plants swapped round, a page turned. Tells first-timers from regulars. |
| Porter | A leather trunk that trots after guests and carries their luggage. |
| Lobby Golem | A jukebox with a gramophone horn that plays tunes on the note blocks around it, morning, afternoon and evening. |
| Vault Golem | A tiny gold safe that opens your ender chest, politely looking away. |
| Smelter | A walking furnace that counts every item it smelts. |
| Harvester | A hay-bale farmhand on a pole: harvests, replants and carries the crop to a chest. Takes a noon break. |
| Shepherd | A ball of wool with a crook: shears sheep, cuts sugar cane, dozes on hay bales. |
| Patcher | A grumpy smithing table that patches your worn tools and armour back to three-quarters. Hides from vehicles. |
| Barterer | A greedy little chest that trades your gold with piglins, very reluctantly. |
| Rime Golem | An ice walrus whose tusks are a snow plough: keeps paths clear. |
| Checkpoint | An armoured warden that guards a road and protests at anyone who walks past without paying the toll. |
| Trader | A stack of crates with a ledger on top; prices rise as you buy and drift back down. |
| Host | A golden urn that bows and offers passers-by a drink or a bite, once a day. |
| Connoisseur | A crowned display case that appraises whatever you hold, in emeralds, with opinions. |
| Wayfinder | A desert traveller of sandstone: lights a fire at dusk, points the way home, names the stars. |
| Tea Golem | A teapot that performs a tea ceremony and gives you a Cup of Tea, once a day. |
| Calligrapher | A blob of living ink with a brush for a topknot: writes all day and gives you a book of poems. |
| Lantern Release | A paper lantern that blooms on its moon night and sends glowing sky lanterns up (two looks). |
| Stewpot | A patched little cauldron pet: follows you, loves being petted, splashes you with small buffs, serves a daily meal. |
| Retired Custodian | A mossy old stone guardian with a flower garden on its back; waves, and wears its name on a plaque. |
| Net Mender | An old barrel on the dock mending its net, with a sea story told one piece per visit. |
| Pearl Golem | A quartz column that gives hurt players a little regeneration. |
| Guide | A little buoy that waddled ashore, with a beacon and a bell; helps lost travellers. |
| Weather Station | A tiny weather robot that reads the real weather timers and warns you before rain. |

Customising
Every golem's lines, presets, trader offers, Lobby tunes and Calligrapher poems are datapack files under data/cozy_golems/. Copy one into a world datapack at the same path, edit it and run /reload. The full format is documented in DIALOGUE_SCHEMA.md and README.md, both inside the jar.
Config files: serverconfig/cozy_golems-server.toml (per world) and config/cozy_golems-client.toml.
