# Cozy Contracts **Cozy Contracts** is a settlement-focused Minecraft Forge mod where players help a community grow through daily requests, cooking, building, residents, shared meals, and useful village support. The Community Board acts as the heart of the settlement. Complete requests, earn Favour Tokens, build Community Projects, invite residents, discover their favourite foods, and unlock services that make the settlement feel increasingly personal and useful. ## Core Gameplay Loop Open the Community Board → Complete village requests → Earn Favour Tokens → Buy useful materials → Build Community Projects → Unlock residents, services, and settlement support Cozy Contracts is designed around player-built progression. The settlement benefits from your support, but it does not decay, punish you, or demand constant maintenance when you take a break. ## Community Board Requests Each Community Board offers a small selection of daily requests involving: - Farming - Cooking - Building - Decorating - Gathering Complete requests to earn **Favour Tokens**, the settlement's community currency. Requests are data-driven and support: - Exact-item requirements - Item-tag requirements - Weighted daily selection - Persistent completion state - Optional-mod requirements - Datapack expansion ## Favour Token Shop Spend Favour Tokens on practical farming, Kitchen, building, and decorating materials. The Shop is intended to reduce frustrating resource gathering without becoming a creative-mode catalogue or skipping major progression. ## Community Kitchen Cooking has its own settlement gameplay loop. The Kitchen includes: - Daily Menu Orders - Standing Orders - Feast Prep foundations - Partial contributions - Daily delivery limits - Favour Token rewards - Optional Farmer's Delight orders - Optional Create: Food orders Players can pin one Kitchen Order or Project Site Order and follow its progress through a compact gameplay HUD. ## Buildable Community Projects Community Projects let players shape the settlement by building real improvements in the world. Place a Project Marker, choose a project, build around it, and validate the completed area through the Community Board. Validation is intentionally flexible: - No exact schematics - No strict building shapes - No beauty rating - No automatic construction - Helpful missing-requirement feedback Current projects include: - Village Fields - Garden Corner - Builder's Yard - Community Pantry - Orchard Grove - Animal Pen - Hearth Kitchen - Tool Shed - Flower Walk - Shared Well - Settler's Cottage - Community Storehouse Completed projects become permanent **Registered Improvements** for the settlement. ## Homes and Residents Build repeatable Settler's Cottages to increase housing capacity and invite new residents. Residents are currently abstract saved profiles rather than physical NPC workers. Each resident has: - A name - A role - A home - A personality - An arrival story - Home Comfort - A small matching role bonus Residents do not automate work, generate resources, require upkeep, or leave when ignored. ## Shared Meals and Taste Preferences Share meals with residents and discover what they enjoy. Taste categories include: - Simple - Hearty - Fresh - Sweet - Baked - Fancy Each resident has Favourite Tastes, something they Also Like, and tastes that remain unknown until discovered. Sharing a Favourite or Liked meal can empower that resident's next matching role bonus. There is no hunger, missed-meal punishment, or obligation to share food every day. ## Village Cookbook and Memories The Cookbook records: - Discovered meals - Resident reactions - Favourite Taste discoveries - Shared-meal history - Important settlement memories - One-time Cookbook milestones Cookbook progress adapts to the mods currently installed, so missing optional food mods do not count against completion. ## Community Storehouse The **Favour Token Shop provides ordinary materials**. The **Community Storehouse provides guaranteed, player-chosen progression tools, village-made utility, and settlement services**. Donate useful materials into five abstract supply categories: - Farming - Builder - Kitchen - Decor - Community Then choose support such as: - Rich Fertilizer - Community Fertilizer - Efficiency II - Unbreaking II - Community Repair Kit - Community Lunchbox - Feather Falling II - Silk Touch - Village Notice Seal Stronger choices unlock through related Community Projects. Storehouse supplies are shared across the settlement, while daily support use is tracked separately for each player. The Storehouse has: - No random reward bundles - No withdrawal - No automation - No supply decay - No upkeep - No direct order completion - No punishment for taking a break ## Optional Mod Support Cozy Contracts works standalone. Optional integrations are loaded safely when installed. ### Farmer's Delight Adds optional: - Community Board requests - Community Kitchen Orders - Food taste mappings ### Create and Create: Food Adds optional: - Community Board requests - Community Kitchen Orders - Food taste mappings Create is required when using Create: Food. ### JEI JEI is optional and useful for viewing recipes during normal play. ## Installation 1. Install Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. 2. Place the Cozy Contracts jar in the `mods` folder. 3. Launch Minecraft using Forge. The mod should be installed on both the client and server when playing multiplayer. ## Requirements - Minecraft 1.20.1 - Forge - Java 17 - Client and server ## Design Philosophy Cozy Contracts is built around a few central rules: - The Community Board is the interface; the settlement is the system behind it. - Villages grow through player choice and player-built improvements. - Validation should guide rather than judge. - Settlement support should reduce friction without becoming overpowered. - Progress should never decay because the player takes a break. - Residents should add personality without becoming worker automation. - Optional food mods should remain optional. ## Alpha Status Cozy Contracts is still in public alpha development. Features are playable, but balancing, presentation, catalogue costs, project requirements, datapack formats, and future settlement systems may change. Back up important worlds before testing alpha updates, especially when moving between significantly different versions.
