Description
Cozy Cauldron
Want to take your base on the move? Finding airships too high-tech, TARDISes too vast, and pocket dimensions too empty? Looking for something a bit more mystical, a bit… cozier?
Simply drop an ender pearl into a cauldron full of water to transform it into a Manifold Cauldron. Then sneak while standing on top of it to enter your new home between worlds!
- Free from mobs, weather, and other Overworld annoyances.
- Respects the Overworld's day/night cycle, so don't be afraid to bring your bed in here.
- Can be broken and placed wherever you want, in whatever dimension you want. (Nested cauldrons are technically possible!)
Technical Details
- Each new cauldron's interior space occupies the center of a 512 by 512 block grid cell in the cauldron dimension. New interiors are generated in a spiral pattern around the origin.
- Picking the block of a placed cauldron in Creative mode creates a cauldron linked to the same internal space.
- Lost or disconnected cauldron interiors can be reconnected using
/cozycauldron reassign <index>, where<index>is the order in which an interior was generated./cozycauldron listlists all generated spaces and their indices.
Known Issues
- Beds placed in the cauldron dimension don't register interactions.
- Cauldron items forcibly assigned to existing interiors with commands don't get the appropriate enchantment glow effect, and may spawn the player in strange places within the cauldron when entering.
- Rarely, players entering a cauldron can be spawned stuck inside the ceiling and walls of the entrance.
- Jade may display a missing model when looking at the cauldron's exit blocks.
- Using Iris shaders causes the portal shaders on the cauldron and exit blocks to stop rendering.
Future Plans
- Freeform terrain manipulation of the cauldron's interior, with the ability to create organic rooms and passages and reshape them in real-time
- Bedrock walls to separate grid cells?
