Corpse Menu Fix
Prevents the Corpse client menu from receiving a missing corpse entity when its world entity is not available yet.
The problem
Opening a corpse menu can fail if its entity has not reached the client or is outside the lookup range when the menu packet is processed.
Why it happens
The client factory resolves the entity from the local world and can pass a null result to the menu.
Scope of the fix
- Creates an unregistered client-side placeholder only when the lookup has no result.
- Keeps the existing entity when present, and preserves packet processing, history-menu handling and menu flags.
- Does not spawn a replacement entity, change server inventories or change saved player data.
No Steam & Steel progression or general balance adjustments are included.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.235
- Java 21
- Corpse 1.21.1-1.1.13
Install on the client alongside Corpse. This release targets the original Corpse 1.1.13 implementation for Minecraft 1.21.1.
From Steam & Steel
These changes originated in Steam & Steel SMP, our custom Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge server pack. This addon is supplied separately from the full pack.

Corpse is by Max Henkel (henkelmax). The original mod is required and keeps its own license.
Beta / Feedback
This is a beta release. The original in-pack changes come from the specific Steam & Steel server pack used and tested by our players. These newly packaged standalone addons have local code checks; compatibility with other packs still needs feedback.
The real original, previous in-JAR and Mixin-transformed packet factory were executed against controlled APIs. The standalone implementation passed 32 checks for missing/present entities, lookup distance, history packets, positions and unchanged menu flags. A new Minecraft gameplay session with this standalone package has not yet been tested.
If you encounter a crash, an error or unexpected behaviour, please leave a comment with your Minecraft, NeoForge, original-mod and addon versions, plus steps to reproduce the problem. Include a log after removing private details. We will investigate reported bugs and work on fixes.
