Changelog
All notable changes to Sort & Stack are listed here, newest first.
The format follows Keep a Changelog.
Versions are MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH: MAJOR for a rework or a new Minecraft version, MINOR for a new
feature, PATCH for a bug fix and for every rebuilt release, even a cosmetic one.
[1.0.3] — 2026-09-05
Fixed
- Auto-refill no longer undoes the player's own move. Taking the held stack out of the selected hotbar slot in the inventory screen — by shift-click, by dragging or with a number key — left the slot empty, which looked exactly like a stack running out, so the mod pulled the same items straight back. Emptying that slot from a menu is now recognised as a deliberate move and leaves the refill alone; a stack that really runs out during play is still replaced.
[1.0.2] — 2026-09-05
Fixed
- A double chest is now one container for everything the mod does with it. The type used to be written on the single block entity the player happened to click, so half of a double chest ended up typed and the other half did not: the chest showed its type as a title only when opened from the right side, and refused or accepted items depending on which half was clicked. Both halves now carry the type, reading always starts from the same half, and splitting a double chest leaves two chests that each keep what they were.
- Quick stack treats a double chest as the single box the player sees: it is filled once instead of once per half, so a typed chest whose first half is full now uses the second one.
[1.0.1] — 2026-09-05
Fixed
- Auto-refill no longer fires when the player scrolls onto an empty hotbar slot. The handler remembered only which item had been held, so switching slots looked exactly like a stack running out and an item was pulled into the slot the player had just selected. It now remembers the slot as well and only refills the very slot the item disappeared from.
[1.0.0] — 2026-09-05
First release. Built for Minecraft 26.2 with Fabric Loader 0.19.3+, Fabric API and Java 25.
Added
- Sorting in one click — three buttons in the corner above every container grid: grid, columns
and rows. The same is available on middle click, which also cycles the layouts, and on the
Rkey for the player inventory. The hotbar is never rearranged. - Sorting runs on the server, so it is applied at once instead of as a burst of simulated clicks, and slot-restricted menus such as furnaces are refused rather than scrambled.
- Auto-refill — a broken tool or an emptied stack is replaced from the inventory into the same hotbar slot, preferring the least worn spare.
- Drag to move — holding Shift or Ctrl and sweeping the mouse quick-moves every slot touched.
- Container types, off by default — chests can be typed as wood, ores, tools, food, building blocks, redstone or General, and a typed chest only accepts its own category. The type replaces the container title, and the client knows it, so a refused shift-click never makes the item jump into the chest and back.
- Custom container types in
config/invtweaks-types.json, defined by item tags, exact item ids or "anything edible"; a type reusing a preset id replaces that preset. - A shulker box keeps its type when it is picked up and placed again.
- Quick stack to nearby containers, off by default — a button in the inventory or the
Gkey sends items into chests within range that already hold them. Chests typed as General are filled last and collect whatever no other chest accepted. The hotbar is left untouched. - Configuration file
config/invtweaks.jsonfor every feature above, including the quick stack radius, clamped to 3–16 blocks. - Game tests covering sorting and its layouts, refusal of slot-restricted menus, auto-refill, container types and quick stack, including the General chest.
