What's new

ContentStudio 26.9.22

This release is a major KineticCore API migration and editor-quality update for ContentStudio.

Compared with 26.9.12, the update includes a new Villager Trade Late Override mode, improved recipe navigation, corrected recipe bundle storage paths, UI state improvements, and extensive migration of ContentStudio editors to the modern KineticCore GUI/network APIs.

New Villager Trade Late Override Mode

Added a new Late Override option to the Villager Trade Editor.

When enabled, ContentStudio applies the current villager trade rules one final time after a villager or wandering trader finishes refreshing its trades.

This is designed for compatibility with other mods that dynamically append trades during the same refresh process.

Important behavior:

  • Does not poll every tick.
  • Runs after the normal trade refresh process.
  • Re-applies the current ContentStudio trade rules at the end of the refresh.
  • Can override trades dynamically appended by other mods during that refresh.

The editor now provides clear ON/OFF state text for this option.

Recipe Navigation Rework

Added a dedicated recipe navigation state.

The Recipe Manager now resolves its parent through the Kinetic configuration index instead of relying on older direct screen transitions.

This improves the navigation chain:

Kinetic Plugin / Config Index -> Recipe Manager -> Recipe Sub-Screen -> Back

and prevents recipe sub-screens from returning to the wrong interface level.

The Recipe Hub now uses the modern Kinetic close/navigation lifecycle.

Recipe Manager Naming Update

The previous title:

Recipe Removal Manager

has been renamed to:

Recipe Manager

to better reflect that the interface is no longer limited to removal-only workflows.

Recipe Bundle Path Fix

The displayed recipe bundle save path has been corrected.

Old path:

config/kineticcore/datapack/data/contentstudio/recipe_bundle.json

New path:

config/kineticcore/datapack/data/contentstudio/recipe/recipe_bundle.json

The updated UI now points users to the actual recipe subdirectory used by the current implementation.

Loot Editor UI Migration

The Loot editors have been migrated further to the modern Kinetic GUI API.

Changes include greater use of:

  • Kinetic text fields.
  • Kinetic numeric input fields.
  • Kinetic state buttons.
  • Kinetic scroll states/controllers.
  • Kinetic item selectors.
  • Kinetic dialogs and shared screen behavior.

The old standalone LootPoolDeleteConfirmScreen has been removed as part of this cleanup, with confirmation behavior consolidated into the modern shared GUI flow.

Loot State Readability

Loot enable/disable state text now uses clearer colors:

  • On is shown in green.
  • Off is shown in red.

This provides faster visual feedback in editor screens.

Villager Trade Editor API Migration

The Villager Trade Editor has been substantially migrated to the current Kinetic GUI controls.

Updated controls include:

  • Profession auto-complete.
  • Trade search field.
  • Numeric trade fields.
  • Reward toggle.
  • Restock toggle.
  • Late Override toggle.
  • Undo button.
  • Scroll controller.
  • Item selectors.
  • NBT editor integration.
  • Level expansion controls.

This reduces custom widget code and keeps trade editing behavior consistent with other Kinetic editors.

Recipe Editor API Migration

Recipe editor screens have been updated to the modern KineticCore GUI/navigation APIs.

The migration covers:

  • Recipe Hub.
  • Recipe preview.
  • Recipe removal editor.
  • Recipe removal preview.
  • Recipe removal selection.
  • Tag selection.
  • Recipe screen/editor flow.

A new RecipeNavigationState now centralizes recipe-hub navigation behavior.

Tooltip System Networking Rework

ContentStudio's tooltip networking has been migrated to KineticCore's shared networking API.

The new implementation uses Kinetic network buffers and server packet contexts instead of maintaining a separate low-level networking implementation.

General Network/API Cleanup

Other ContentStudio systems have also been migrated further onto KineticCore's public APIs, including:

  • Loot networking.
  • Recipe networking.
  • Villager networking.
  • Tooltip networking.
  • Shared selectors.
  • Shared text/numeric fields.
  • Shared buttons.
  • Shared scrolling.
  • Shared screen lifecycle/navigation.

Structural Comparison

Between 26.9.12 and 26.9.22:

  • Total compiled classes: 179 -> 175
  • Top-level classes: 71 -> 71
  • Modified top-level classes: 57
  • Added top-level class:
    • RecipeNavigationState
  • Removed top-level class:
    • LootPoolDeleteConfirmScreen
  • English language keys: 799 -> 802
  • New English language keys: 3
  • Updated English language keys: 4

The lower compiled-class count reflects consolidation and migration to shared KineticCore APIs rather than removed editor functionality.

Updated Requirements

ContentStudio 26.9.22 requires:

  • Minecraft: 1.20.1
  • Forge: 47.4.2 or newer
  • KineticCore: 26.9.20 or newer

Optional integrations remain available for:

  • JEI
  • EMI
  • Roughly Enough Items (REI)

Compatibility Notice

This release uses the newer KineticCore API generation.

When updating ContentStudio, update KineticCore at the same time to avoid missing-class or missing-method errors.
