Confluence 1.21.1 Update Notes (October 2026)

These notes apply to 1.21.1 only.

Highlights

  • The Twins reworked: new combat synergy, sweep and flame attacks, projectile visuals, and encounter resolution.
  • Creative Boss aggro tool: makes testing Boss fights and building maps much easier.
  • Towns and NPCs improved: Shadow Candles, trade-price display, line-of-sight targeting fixes, town spawn suppression, and more town critters.
  • Clentaminator and Terraformer: more conversion rules plus a quick-buff potion keybind.
  • Global achievements: achievements are now global instead of being recorded per save.
  • Stability fix: client memory usage no longer keeps climbing after changing dimensions or leaving a world.

New Content and Progression

  • Added the Clentaminator and Terraformer with expanded environment conversion rules.
  • Completed the Shadow Candle: it can be held in either hand and, when placed and lit, disables town spawn protection.
  • Added the Abyssal Scale weapon series and several work-in-progress weapons.
  • The Blood Moon no longer spawns at the same time as the Eye of Cthulhu.

Difficulty and Progression

  • Unified mob difficulty: Easy, Normal, and Hard now map to Classic, Expert, and Master.
  • Rewrote For the Worthy difficulty masking so the displayed name matches the actual difficulty.
  • Expanded enemy and Boss attribute scaling, including armor, toughness, movement speed, flight speed, knockback resistance, and targeting range.
  • Fixed mob difficulty incorrectly increasing due to world time, chunk dwell time, or moon phase.
  • Adjusted duck and wasp behavior to reduce wasted AI work and stutter.

NPCs, Towns, and Trading

  • Improved town generation, unified town population checks, and added town hostile-spawn suppression.
  • Towns now spawn more critters while preserving each species' original spawn conditions.
  • Shadow Candles can be held in either hand and disable town spawn protection when placed and lit; recipes, drops, models, and bilingual tooltips are complete.
  • Fixed NPC trade-price tooltips: NPC goods show only the buy price, and player items show only the actual sell price.
  • Server sell offers now account for NPC mood and the refund from the current trade.
