Common Bugfixes
Common Bugfixes is an open-source diagnostic mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge 47.x. It helps modpack creators and individual players investigate crashes, recurring lag, freezes, memory pressure, and unusual entity activity.
Crash analysis
At startup, the mod checks the newest Minecraft crash report and JVM fatal-error log from the previous run. It writes an analysis to Common Bugfixes/crash-analysis/ with a likely cause, confidence estimate, relevant context, and suggested troubleshooting steps. The analysis is a best-effort lead, not a guaranteed verdict or an automatic repair.
Use /commonbugfixes lastcrash to view the latest available analysis in game.
Diagnostic logs
The mod writes segmented plain-text logs to:
<game folder>/Common Bugfixes/logs/
The logs can include server tick times, client frame hitches, thread stall stack traces, memory and garbage-collection statistics, world and entity snapshots, player activity, and selected gameplay events. /commonbugfixes status reports the current log location and recent server tick and entity-scan information.
Logs contain sensitive gameplay details, including player names, coordinates, inventories, and item NBT data. Review a log before sharing it. Previous session logs are cleaned up on a later launch after the crash-analysis step, so copy any log you want to keep before starting the game again.
Configuration
The mod creates config/common_bugfixes-common.toml. Options include log segment size and age, the pending-record limit, slow-tick threshold, memory warning threshold, entity hotspot threshold, and crash-analysis settings.
The mod can be installed on a client, a server, or both. It is diagnostic software: it records information to help investigate problems and does not itself fix crashes or change gameplay mechanics.
