## 0.94.0: the Scolopendra, a steam centipede train

### The look, the moving parts and the Call Station

**New**
- **Call Station and Steam Transmitter.** Craft a transmitter, put it in a Call Station, and a steam centipede appears **behind you** and runs to the station; board it and claim it at its console. The transmitter is used up and the station is busy until the centipede has come. The centipede seed is not craftable any more.
- **Moving gears and pistons.** A chain of small toothed gears stands out of both flanks of the Scolopendra, one meshing with the next across all the cars, and they turn with the walk; under them steel pistons slide in and out of brass cylinders, in turns.
- **Searchlights.** Two big ones on the head and one on every car sweep the country at night, now and then fix on a player or a monster and follow it, and **really light the ground** where their beam lands (invisible light blocks that come and go with it). The beams are drawn as soft cones of light.
- **Thirteen new building blocks with real models**: Brass Plating, Gunmetal Plate and Tiles, a connecting **Steam Pipe**, a **Cogwheel** that lies on any face and meshes with its neighbours, a **Boiler Tank**, a **Porthole**, a **Vent Grille**, a **Spotlight** (a real lamp that shines the way it points), a **Brass Railing**, Gunmetal Stairs and Slab and a Brass Slab. Own steampunk textures, cheap recipes from copper, iron, charcoal and glass. The Scolopendra is built of them.
- **A real centipede.** Fourteen pairs of legs on every car in a thicket, rounded belly plates, a centipede head with long antennae and crossed forcipules.
- **The decks match the body, and the cars are empty.** The block-built top is a low arched carapace of dark metal with brass-coloured collars, copper steam pipes and a gear on every car, every car a segment plate of its own and lower than the one before it, with thin jointed spider legs (twenty a side) and two long hind legs on the last car. A car holds only a floor, a doorway on each side and two lanterns: the interior is yours to build. Only the head has the cab with the console, the boiler and the chimneys.

**Config**: `callStation.enabled`, `callStation.distance`; `spotlights.enabled`, `realLight`, `track`, `onlyAtNight`, `range`; client `effects.beams`.

**Known**: the Call Station, the moving parts and the new look were checked only in test scenes and by the tests, not played; the legs look a little hurried at the top speed of 8.

### The chain, the model, the decks and the items

**New**
- **The Scolopendra.** A fourth colossus: a steampunk centipede, a locomotive head and **eight cars**, about 220 blocks long. It bends round corners like a train (it cannot turn on the spot: it needs a curve of about 150 blocks), and every car has **a platform of its own** you can walk between: the cab with the console, a shell with a floor that you fill as you like (the cars are empty: workshop, garden, cabins and the rest are yours to build; Create machines too). Ladders on both sides of every car go down to the ground.
- **A wave of legs.** Each car has a thicket of brass legs (fourteen pairs) with steel pistons, and they lift one after another in a wave that runs from the head to the tail.
- **Steam.** The chimneys smoke (more at speed), the engine chuffs as it walks, hisses when it sets off or stops and blows a whistle now and then.
- **Called with a transmitter.** The Call Station and the Steam Transmitter (see above) bring it to you; the spawn egg (creative tab) wakes it on **level, open ground**, where it lies out straight behind its head. Advancement "Chief Engineer".
- Everything a colossus does works for it: the console and permissions, steering,

## 0.93.0 to 0.91.0: camera lock, steampunk console set, Create support

**New**
- **Camera lock (0.91.0).** While you steer, **C** locks the helm camera behind the heading (the mouse is ignored and the camera swings back smoothly); press it again to look around. By default it starts locked on the Aurelia. Also while seated, keys that have nothing to do with steering (attack, use, drop, swap hands, hotbar, sprint) do nothing; steering, jump, sneak (to leave the seat), inventory and chat still work.
- **Steampunk console set (0.92.0).** The console has a new look (iron, brass, copper, glass) and three new blocks: the **Gauge Panel** (three dials: speed, heading, and height over the ground, depth under the keel or the drop of the lift cabin), the **Lamp Column** (glows brighter the faster the colossus goes) and the **Valve Wing** (vents steam above half speed). New decks get a panel above the console and a lamp column on each side; existing decks keep their single console. All three are craftable (copper, glass, redstone, clocks, a lever).
- **Create support, optional (0.93.0).** With Create installed, a Display Link next to a console, gauge panel or lamp column can use the source **Colossus Status**: name, speed, heading, height / depth / lift and what the colossus is doing, updated every second. Without Create nothing changes.

**Changed**
- The speed bar of the helm HUD, the sway of the hull, the wakes and the rescue rope now follow the real speed (up to 20 blocks/s) instead of stopping at 4.

**Config** (client): `camera.lockStart` (`never`, `flyers`, `always`), `camera.blockKeys`.

**Known issue**: Create machines built on a deck have not been proven. A mechanical bearing keeps turning on a walking colossus, but pistons did not work in the test, and blocks built off the edge of the deck may break away while machines run or when the colossus rests. Please report what you see.
