Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
New Curse
Curse of Greed (I–III) — Mining tools & swords Ores, crops and slain mobs drop extra items, like Fortune and Looting. But greed has a price: every time it pays out, it costs 1 XP per level, or durability once you're out of XP.
- Rare (as rare as Curse of the Pact)
- Won't duplicate ore blocks mined with Silk Touch or unstackable mob gear
Balance Changes
Curses no longer completely erase their enchantment Curses that mirror an enchantment now offset 50% of it at the same level instead of 100%. A cursed book weakens your gear instead of deleting an expensive enchantment.
- Dullness (vs Sharpness), Death Coil (vs Smite), Arachnophobia (vs Bane of Arthropods), Aquatic Drag (vs Impaling), Soft (vs Punch), Strain (crossbow reload, vs Quick Charge), Snagging (vs Lure), Tangled Line (vs Luck of the Sea)
Mirror curses can now go higher To make up for being weaker per level, these curses have higher max levels:
- Dullness, Death Coil, Arachnophobia and Aquatic Drag: V → VII
- Strain, Snagging and Tangled Line: III → IV
- Soft: II → III
Even at max level they don't fully cancel a maxed-out enchantment. They take a big bite out of it instead.
Curses are now a step rarer than their enchantment Each curse that inverts an enchantment now has a loot weight one step below that enchantment's (e.g. Sharpness 10 → Dullness 7, Smite 5 → Death Coil 3, Looting 2 → Scarcity 1). Curses with no enchantment counterpart keep their old weight.
Fixes
- Curse of Tangled Line now works at level I. Fishing luck only counts whole numbers, so it now lowers luck by 1 / 1 / 2 / 2 at levels I / II / III / IV.
- Curse of Bloodlust's tooltip now shows its actual bonus of +75% attack damage per level (it said +50%).
