Description

Every Cobblemon TM in one in-game list, and exactly how to unlock each one. Cobblemon TM Journal is a client-side Fabric add-on for Cobblemon 1.8. It shows which TM recipes you have unlocked, which Pokémon to catch (and at what level) to unlock the rest, which ruins hide each TM disc, and how many type gems the TM Machine needs.

Press J in game. Nothing to install on the server.

How to get TMs in Cobblemon 1.8

The Cobblemon 1.8 "Make Your Move" update added TMs that you craft at the TM Machine from type gems and a few items. Before you can craft a TM you have to unlock its recipe, and the game never tells you how:

  • 206 of the 334 TMs start locked in a new world.
  • A recipe unlocks when you own a Pokémon that knows the move (in your party or PC), or when you put the TM disc into a Data Monitor.
  • 17 TMs are learned by only one or two regular Pokémon. Body Press? Only Probopass, at level 50.
  • 20 TMs cannot be unlocked by catching anything. Their discs are guaranteed loot in the gilded chests of specific ruins and shipwreck coves.

TM Journal answers "how do I get this TM?" right in the game, without a wiki tab.

Features

  • The full Cobblemon TM list with your unlock progress (for example Unlocked 197 / 334), including TMs that datapacks on your server add.
  • How to unlock every TM: the Pokémon that learn the move by leveling up, the level they learn it at, and whether you have caught or seen them.
  • Party hints, such as Your Probopass is Lv. 47 and learns it at Lv. 50.
  • TM locations: the ruins and shipwreck coves whose gilded chests hold each TM disc, plus a reminder to use the Data Monitor.
  • Recipe checker: the type gems and items each TM costs, next to what is in your inventory.
  • Party compatibility: which of your Pokémon know the move, can learn it or cannot.
  • Filters and search: by type, by status (unlocked, locked, ready to craft) and by party Pokémon. Pick a Pokémon to see every TM it can learn.
  • 3D preview of the best Pokémon to catch for a locked TM.
  • TM tooltips: every TM disc shows its recipe status and how many of your party can learn it. Press J over a disc to open it in the journal.
  • TM Machine button that opens the journal from the TM Machine screen.
  • Settings in Mod Menu: tooltips, the TM Machine button, legendary learners and list length.

How to use

  1. Press J to open the TM Journal. You can change the key in Controls.
  2. Click a TM to see how to unlock it, its recipe and your party. The list shows each status at a glance: Unlocked, From the start, Catch to unlock, Rare learner or Find the disc.
  3. Narrow the list with the filter buttons. Shift-click a filter to go back one step.
  4. Hover a TM disc in any inventory and press J to jump straight to it.

Cobblemon TM locations: ruins and gilded chests

Each of these structures has a guaranteed TM disc in its gilded chest. Put the disc into a Data Monitor to unlock the recipe for good.

Disc only (no Pokémon learns these by leveling up, so the disc is the only way to unlock them):

  • Alluring Voice: Deep Crypt Ruins, Honey Gimmighoul Tower, Lush Gimmighoul Tower
  • Blast Burn: Magma Shipwreck Cove
  • Burning Jealousy: Deserted Monument Ruins, Sunscorched Gimmighoul Tower
  • Draco Meteor: Meteor Battleground Ruins
  • Frenzy Plant: Lush Shipwreck Cove
  • Grassy Glide: Overgrown Trial Ruins
  • Hydro Cannon: Submerged Shipwreck Cove
  • Lash Out: Crumbling Arch Ruins
  • Meteor Beam: Stonjourner Henge Ruins
  • Misty Explosion: Old Garden Ruins
  • Poltergeist: Decaying Crypt Ruins, Rooted Gimmighoul Tower
  • Psychic Noise: Sol Henge Ruins
  • Rising Voltage: Deserted Gimmighoul Tower
  • Scale Shot: Temperate Gimmighoul Tower
  • Scorching Sands: Fallen Statue Ruins
  • Sky Drop: Deserted Tower Ruins
  • Steel Beam: Deserted House Ruins
  • Supercell Slam: Unstable Cave Ruins
  • Temper Flare: Sunscorched Shaded Ruins
  • Triple Axel: Frozen Altar Ruins

Also in ruins (these recipes are already unlocked from the start):

  • Chilling Water: Frozen Gimmighoul Tower, Submerged Forge Ruins
  • Coaching: Deserted Town Center Ruins
  • Corrosive Gas: Mossy Oubliette Ruins
  • Dragon Cheer: Toppled Pillars Ruins
  • Hard Press: Hidden Bunker Ruins
  • Pounce: Rooted Arch Ruins
  • Telekinesis: Luna Henge Ruins
  • Trailblaze: Lush Monument Ruins
  • Upper Hand: Ancient Dais Ruins

Type gems and the TM Machine

Every TM recipe needs type gems of the move's type, and stronger moves need extra items too. Draco Meteor, for example, costs 12 Dragon Gems, 1 Dragon's Breath and 1 Diamond. TM Journal lists each recipe, counts what you already carry, and the Ready to craft filter shows every TM you can make right now.

FAQ

How do I unlock TMs in Cobblemon?

A TM recipe unlocks when you own a Pokémon that knows the move, in your party or your PC, or when you put the TM disc into a Data Monitor. 128 TMs are unlocked from the start. TM Journal shows the quickest way for every other TM.

How do I craft the TM Machine?

Top row: iron ingot, tinted glass, iron ingot. Bottom row: copper ingot, redstone dust, copper ingot.

How do I craft a TM?

Open the TM Machine, pick an unlocked move and add the type gems and items from its recipe. TM Journal shows the same recipe and how many of each ingredient you already have.

How do I get type gems?

Type gems grow as crystal clusters on Type Gem blocks, much like amethyst. Mine the grown clusters to collect them.

What does the Data Monitor do with TMs?

Put a TM disc into a Data Monitor and its recipe unlocks for good. This is the only way to unlock the 20 disc-only TMs.

How do I get the Earthquake TM?

Own a Pokémon that knows Earthquake. Swampert, Marshtomp, Torterra and Gogoat learn it at level 1, so any of them unlocks the recipe; Larvitar learns it at level 31 and Geodude at 34. Then craft it with 10 Ground Gems, 1 Soft Sand and 1 Diamond.

How do I get Draco Meteor?

No Pokémon learns Draco Meteor by leveling up. Find its disc in the gilded chest of the Meteor Battleground Ruins and put it into a Data Monitor.

Where do I get Dragon Cheer to evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple?

Dragon Cheer is unlocked from the start: craft it with 3 Dragon Gems. Its disc is also in the Toppled Pillars Ruins.

Do I need to install it on the server?

No. TM Journal is client-side only. It works in singleplayer, on LAN and on any Cobblemon server.

Can I add it to my modpack?

Yes. It works in any Fabric 1.21.1 modpack with Cobblemon 1.8, and modpack makers are welcome to include it. The ruin list is a resource file, so packs and resource packs can change it.

Is it cheating?

No. The journal only uses what your client already receives from the server (the TM list, your unlocked recipes, your party and your Pokédex), Cobblemon's learnsets and a built-in list of which ruins hold which TM. It does not scan the world or show spawns.

Will there be a NeoForge version?

TM Journal is made for Fabric and Minecraft 1.21.1, where Cobblemon 1.8 runs.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 with Fabric Loader 0.17.2 or newer
  • Fabric API
  • Cobblemon 1.8 (tested on 1.8.2)
  • Fabric Language Kotlin 1.13.6 or newer (Cobblemon 1.8.2 already includes it)
  • Optional: Mod Menu for the settings screen

Cobblemon TM Journal is an unofficial add-on. It is not made by or affiliated with the Cobblemon team, Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures Inc. or The Pokémon Company.
