Cobblemon Ditto HMs 3.0.0 (Fabric)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Everything since 2.2.1, in one release. The mod moves to Cobblemon 1.8 and four new HMs arrive with it, NeoForge stops crashing before the main menu, and the Trainer Ditto finally tells you something useful.
⚠️ This version needs Cobblemon 1.8.0 or newer. It will not load against 1.7.x, on purpose: a dependency error you can read beats a crash halfway through a session.
🧬 Cobblemon 1.8
- The mod runs on Cobblemon 1.8. It was built against 1.7.3, which is what four features had been waiting on. Every one of the mod's calls into Cobblemon was checked against the 1.8 jar one by one, including the reflective lookup that Surf and Tailwind use to speed a mount up: all of them are still there, unchanged. (#84)
🌱 New HM — Growth
- Grow a Pokémon for good, or yourself for a while. Aimed at a Pokémon it takes a permanent step up in size, and the new size belongs to the Pokémon rather than to the body standing in front of you — recall it, send it out, log back in tomorrow, it stays grown. Aimed at anything else it makes you twice the size for five minutes, hitbox and all.
- ⚠️ Being big is your problem. Nothing checks whether there is room. Grow in a one-block gap and you will suffocate exactly as anything else would, and a Minimize that runs out while you are somewhere only a half-size player fits will push you out of it. That is deliberate: the mod treats you the way Minecraft treats anything that stops fitting where it is. (#71)
🫧 New HM — Minimize
- Shrink a Pokémon for good, or yourself for a while. Aimed at a Pokémon it takes a permanent step down in size. Aimed at anything else — a block, or nothing at all — it halves you, hitbox included, for five minutes. Growth cancels it and it cancels Growth. (#72)
😡 New HM — Outrage
- An XL Pokémon becomes an Alpha. Point Outrage at one and it roars into the Alpha variant, kept by Cobblemon itself so it sticks through a recall and a relog. It only answers to XL — anything smaller is turned down out loud, with the reason. That condition is the whole point: an XL is already an uncommon roll, so Outrage rewards a find instead of manufacturing one, and it never becomes a button that upgrades whatever you happen to be carrying. (#73)
🧘 New HM — Calm Mind
- Take the Alpha back off. Outrage would otherwise be a one-way door: once a Pokémon was an Alpha, nothing put it back, so using it on the wrong XL was permanent. Calm Mind settles an Alpha into the ordinary Pokémon it was, and it sticks the same way. Unlike Outrage it asks nothing about size — it only wants a Pokémon that is actually an Alpha, and says so plainly when it is not. It costs less and recharges quicker, because undoing a mistake should not cost more than making one. (#91)
🐛 Fixed
- The mod starts on NeoForge again — two startup crashes, one behind the other. Every version since 2.2.0 crashed there before the main menu, and nothing you could do in the launcher helped: the NeoForge build was shipping the Fabric build's name table, so every one of the mod's sixteen engine hooks pointed at names that do not exist on that loader. Behind that sat a second one: the renderer for Bullet Seed's projectile asked for its entity type while the game was still starting up, before the mod had handed it over. Both are fixed. Fabric was never affected. (#83) (#86)
- Mean Look actually keeps things off you. It only ever sent them running — anything already standing on you got its swing in on the way out, and anything that came back hit you normally. A hostile mob or a Pokémon inside Mean Look's radius can no longer land a blow on you at all. Players are still never affected: Mean Look is not a PvP shield. (#79)
- A Substitute decoy breaks when it is hit. It was taking punishment it never registered, so the only thing that ever ended one was its own timer. Blows count now, and a decoy soaks up about as much as the player it is standing in for before it bursts. (#80)
✨ Added
- Destiny Bond can be aimed at another player. Tie yourself to someone and you take them with you, exactly as with any other creature. They are told it happened, so it is something they can play around rather than a death out of nowhere — and on a server with PvP switched off it simply refuses: that setting means what it says. (#82)
👤 The Trainer Ditto
- It tells you where to go next. Which Pokémon teaches which HM was a wiki-only secret with no way into it from the game — you either read the table or tried sneak + right-click on every species you met with every item you had. Open a Trainer Ditto's stall now and it names one species that teaches something you have not learned and that is not on its counter. It gives up the species and nothing else: the move that species knows, and the item it wants for it, are still yours to find. The same trader always names the same one, so there is no reading the table by opening the stall over and over, and a trader whose counter already holds everything you are missing keeps quiet. (#87)
⌨️ Commands
- Same-move teachers can be switched on from chat. The setting that lets any Pokémon which
already knows an HM's namesake move teach that HM was reachable only from the Fabric settings
screen, so a NeoForge server — or anyone running a dedicated server on either loader — had no way
to turn it on at all. It is now
/dittohm config samemove <true|false>, operator-only like the rest of the config tree. (#90)
⚖️ Balance
- A Substitute decoy lasts twenty seconds, not two minutes. It is a way out of a fight, not a second player standing in the field. Twenty seconds is the same as the ability's own cooldown, so there is never more than one of you at a time. (#80)
🔧 Also
- The store page lists what you actually need to install. It named Cobblemon and nothing else, so anyone who installed on that basis got a mod that would not load: Fabric also needs Fabric Language Kotlin and Cloth Config, and NeoForge needs Kotlin for Forge. All of them are listed now, each linked on both Modrinth and CurseForge, along with Cobblemon: PlayerXP as the optional one that makes paying in experience worth choosing. (#85)
- The README describes the mod that exists. It still counted 47 abilities and said you learn them from HM Discs that Pokémon hand over — both left over from an older design. There are 75 abilities now (51 active and 24 toggles), the Pokémon teaches its HM to you directly, and a disc is an operator's tool rather than something survival hands out. (#88)
